Wrap around care for Eleanor

Dear friends and family and anyone the Lord has led to read this page,

Kayla and I are writing to share an update about our daughter and to ask for your prayers and, if you feel led, financial support as we step into a very difficult season for our family.

Over the past year, we have been working closely with doctors, therapists, and specialists to help our daughter heal from significant trauma and complex mental health challenges. After much prayer, medical evaluation, and professional guidance, we have been advised that she now needs a higher level of care through a residential treatment program. This level of care provides 24-hour therapeutic support in a structured, safe environment designed to help children stabilize, heal, and build the skills needed to eventually return home and function well in daily life. As much as our hearts break to not have her with us right now, we want her to be safe and whole and find the healing she needs for her to be a whole and effective worshipper of Jesus.

As we searched for the right placement, one of our deepest priorities is finding a program that not only addresses her mental and emotional health, but also encourages her spiritual growth and understanding of who she is in the Lord. Our faith is central to how we understand healing, identity, and hope. We have found a place that will support her clinical needs while also pointing her toward truth, dignity, and restoration grounded in God’s love and design for her life.

This was not a decision we made lightly. Residential treatment is emotionally difficult for our family, but we believe it is the best path forward for her safety, healing, and long-term future.

Because of our desire for Eleanor to be at a place that supports her both mentally and spiritually we are limited to private pay options. The cost of these programs is significant. We have selected a one that best balances medical practice and financial burden. It is a two to three year program that costs $4,000 per month.  Because of this, we are asking our community to consider partnering with us financially if you are able. We have been awarded a $4000 matching grant Fund administered by Lifesong for Orphans to help us get our fundraising goal underway.

More than anything, we deeply value your prayers — for our daughter’s healing, for wisdom for her treatment team, and for strength and endurance for our family.

If you feel led to support us financially, we can share details privately. Please know there is absolutely no pressure — we are simply grateful to have people in our lives who care about our daughter and our family.

Please feel free to share this with anyone who you think may be willing to pray to financially support us. If you do decide to give, you can either give through the link below (which flows to our Lifesong account minus a credit card fee) OR you can donate through the direct link which doesn’t charge a credit card fee. https://give.lifesong.org/lifesong/90484-ff

Thank you for loving us, supporting us, and walking with us during this time.

With gratitude,

The Rouse Family

Settling In

March 1, 2026

We are very proud of Eleanor starting to settle in and so encouraged by this amazing opportunity. We had our parent orientation this past week and everything we learned about the program was so good! It seems like it’s been specifically designed for our daughter. We believe Eleanor was created for so much more than being held back from health by pain and effects of trauma. The good news is we have an amazing Savior who comes to seek and save that which is lost. Please join us in praying that chains are broken and that Eleanor surrenders to His healing work in her life through this program and believers there who are coaching her through it and through us as we interact and seek to bond in a healthy way. Pray also for wisdom for us in conversations and having both grace and accountability with her. Thank you so much for your part in lifting up our daughter and family!!!

Arrived safely!

February 17, 2026

Praise the Lord! Sam arrived safely at the school. Eleanor was stable through the travel and they didn’t have any major issues or emotional breakdowns. It has been an emotionally and physically exhausting day for all of us. Bringing our long awaited and prayed over daughter to stay anywhere other than our home is not an easy thing to say the least.

Eleanor has been positive about going and was impressed with the beauty of the school and the kindness of the staff upon arrival. She did not seem to be in any distress to leave us or her siblings, but was disappointed and tearful to not say goodbye to friends from her previous school. Though it’s painful for us to see that, it’s just another confirmation of where she is emotionally and that she needs help to learn to bond and heal.

We have been very impressed with the compassion of the director and staff we’ve met, the obvious knowledge of how to work with struggling kids, and their perceptions of Eleanor right away with how to interact best with her being spot on.

She will truly be in a supportive environment with all day gospel truth and worship and devotionals. Sam was able to observe the girls worshiping and it was moving. She will also have a healthy diet, exercise programs, community service projects to help grow compassion and empathy, vocational training, individualized educational plan, doctors and psychiatrists, and daily trauma therapy including EMDR, Neurofeedback, trauma focused individual therapy, group therapy with kids going through similar situations etc. We are finding blessings in each step of the way and praising the Lord for allowing us to be a bridge for Eleanor to the support she needs.

Please pray for all 10 of our family members as we grieve, and give thanks, and experience complicated emotions as we walk the next steps.
