Our journey toward adoption has been shaped by both life circumstances and a deep sense of God’s guidance in our family. From early in our relationship, Amy and I, Adam, talked openly about our desire to build a family together. At the same time, we knew that pregnancy would likely be very high risk due to Amy’s health challenges. After many conversations, prayer, and reflection, we began to see adoption not as a secondary option, but as a calling God was placing on our hearts.
Adoption is already a meaningful part of our family’s story. Our nine-year-old daughter, Willow, joined the family through adoption as an infant, and that experience profoundly shaped our understanding of what adoption truly means. We remain deeply grateful for her birthmother and the courage and love she demonstrated in making an adoption plan. Her decision gave Willow the opportunity to grow up surrounded by love, stability, and support, and we honor that gift every day.
Because of Willow’s story, adoption is something we speak about openly and positively in our home. She has a book that tells the story of her birth and includes a letter and pictures from her birthmother. From the time she was very young, we have shared that story with her so she understands how deeply loved she is by everyone involved in her life. Watching Willow grow into the joyful, creative, and compassionate child she is today has only strengthened our belief in the beauty and importance of adoption.
Over time, our desire to adopt again has continued to grow. We believe God has given us a home filled with love, stability, and faith, and we feel called to open that home to another child. Our hope is to provide a place where a child feels safe, known, and deeply valued, while honoring their story and the people who brought them into the world.
Adoption, for us, is not simply about growing our family. It is about responding to God’s calling, honoring the courage of birth families, and creating a home where a child can thrive, feel loved, and discover the unique purpose God has for their life.
