Adoption has been on our hearts for as long as we can remember. For Casey, she grew up with adoption as a part of her story because her mother was adopted as an infant. Casey knew from a very young age that she would want to adopt one day. For Mason, God placed adoption on his heart as a teenager as a way to grow his future family. When we began dating, this was an early conversation to make sure that we were on the same page. We had no clue that God had written this on our hearts long ago.
Fast forward to 2021 when we had our first son Elijah. It was a difficult pregnancy, but Casey was healthy overall… until she wasn’t. At 32 weeks pregnant, she came home from work one day with swollen feet and ankles, which seemed normal enough at the time. After the swelling continued at a rapid pace, along with high blood pressure, she was being closely monitored for preeclampsia. The following Sunday, after a week of feeling dizzy, swollen, with a constant headache, something told her to reach out to her doctor on call. She called the doctor, who told her to go to the hospital to get checked out. Within the first hour of being at the hospital, she was being admitted with severe preeclampsia. Thankfully, God saw us through as Casey completely recovered and Elijah is now almost 2 years old and as healthy as can be. We were told however that it would be very dangerous for us to have anymore children biologically. While this would be distressing news for others to hear, it only confirmed the desire that God had already placed in our hearts long ago.
We are thrilled to announce that we are hoping to adopt an infant domestically through the agency Flourish Adoption Ministries, Inc. We have officially been in the adoption process since February 2023, and are currently on the waitlist. We have already witnessed the Lord work in so many ways and cannot wait to continue to share our journey with you all.
