A Wait and Hurry Up Adoption Journey

I was diagnosed with severe PMOS, which meant it was highly unlikely for me to have a child without medical assistance. For about a year and a half we tried medications and IUIs. The medication worked, but due to the PMOS, I miscarried. We decided to take a break for about two years to pray and wait on God to see what His plan was. Through those two years, we both grew in our relationship to God and with each other. We thought God had led us to foster care. A member of our church asked us to take in the newborn brother of the child she had custody of. We had finished all the training but not the home study by the time he was born. Two weeks later, we had to give him back to mom, who was still on drugs. DCS claimed that the newborn was safe even

though his older brother was considered in danger; they told us they were not

allowed to look into his brother’s case because it was a different county. Angry, we continued the home study until the caseworker didn’t like the breed of

our dog and said we’d have to get rid of him to continue. We pulled our

application. Thankfully, we ran into the newborn’s mom almost a year later,

and she is clean, has the older brother back, and both boys are thriving.

We went on to adoption because at that point we realized we weren’t

trusting God and were scared. So we jumped in with both feet. We filled out our application to Lifeline Children's Services in August 2025 with the intention of international adoption. After much prayer and counsel from our home study worker, we switched to infant domestic. We were approved and waiting in mid-June 2026. We began to organize our fundraising when, just two months later, in mid-August 2026, we were matched with a birth mother.  In mid-September 2026, Temperance was born. Hindsight is 20/20, and we see God’s hand in everything that has happened to lead us to this point.
