The Urtechos Are Adopting a Baby Boy!

Dear Family & Friends,

“God, why have you not given us any children? Don’t you love us? Don’t you care that our hearts are breaking?”

This is a painful and honest prayer that we have quietly prayed every month for 13 years.

We always imagined our journey to parenthood would be easy, but that has been far from our reality.  13 years of waiting. 13 years of crying out to the Lord. 13 years of having our hopes raised and crushed month after month.  One heartbreaking miscarriage after years of praying.

Yet in God’s steadfast love and boundless grace, He always responded in gentle ways reminding us that we have so much to be grateful for and that He is pruning us to make us more like Him through these trials.  We have felt seen and known by a God who not only sees our pain and weeps alongside us, but gave up His life for wretched sinners like us, so that we could live an abundant life with Him forever.  And that is more than enough.  We know He is good even when our feelings want us to doubt His goodness or His love towards us.  God has written and is still writing our story.  It’s not a story we would have chosen for ourselves, but we are thankful for His sovereignty over our will.  His story is so much better.

We have taken the last few years to grieve, pray, and seek out wisdom and guidance to discern if we should grow our family through adoption. We talked to couples who have adopted and were advised that it can be a long, emotional, and financially costly journey.  But God confirmed over and over through prayer and conversations that the cost to adopt is worth it.

So with hands open wide in surrender, we are taking this step of faith to adopt a newborn.  The total cost of our domestic infant adoption is $65,000, which includes agency fees, legal and attorney costs, medical expenses for the birth mother, travel for out-of-state placement, and post-placement fees.

We are excited to share that we’ve been awarded two generous matching grants totaling $8,000 from Gregory’s Gift Adoption Fund and Lifesong for Orphans.  That means every dollar you give will be doubled up to $8,000!

If you feel led, would you consider giving financially toward our adoption?

We are so grateful for all of your prayers, financial support, encouragement, and friendship.

Thank you for walking this road with us, praying for us, and loving us through the years of waiting.

With Love,

The Urtechos

Praise God! WE ARE MATCHED!! Meet Baby boy NOAH SAMUEL URTECHO

June 5, 2025

Meet NOAH SAMUEL URTECHO

Born 6/4/25 at 12:04 PM

9 lbs  4 oz    21.75 inches

Our sweet healthy baby boy.

We are OVERJOYED to be adopting this beautiful newborn baby boy.  We met the birth mother and she is wonderful and full of love for her baby.

June 4th is a day we will never forget. It is a day that we have been waiting and praying to happen for the last 13 years. Some days were full of hope and others were certainly not, but every time we got discouraged, the Lord reminded us of His deep love for us which sustained us.

The night we found out we were one of five couples that could be adopting this baby, we were full of nerves, but the Lord gave us a verse in my devotional that night. Romans 8:15, “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’” It was a sweet whisper from the Father that gave us much needed peace.

On Friday, we were at the zoo when we got the call we were going to become parents!

Then over the next 4 days, the craziness commenced … buying baby things, getting home study documents updated, packing and driving 17 hours to Florida with our dog Minnie.

All I can do is praise the Lord. “Praise be to God who gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 113:9

As we decided on a name, we thought about the journey God had us on, and how he grew us in our faith and dependence on Him while going through infertility. It reminded us of Hannah’s faith to keep asking the Lord to give her a child. When God finally gave her the gift of giving birth to Samuel, she dedicated him to the Lord. We want our child to be dedicated to the Lord above all else. And while we were praying to confirm his name, we talked with the birth mother and she told us she has a daughter named Hannah, so we felt God confirming that Samuel was going to be his middle name.

It was tough picking a first name.  I always loved the name Noah and God kept bringing Noah’s faith to my mind as I prayed for a name. Noah had faith despite any external circumstances or people telling him that he’s crazy for building an ark. He obeyed God when it didn’t make sense to anyone else. That’s the kind of faith we want our son to have. Enough faith to build an ark when there are no clouds in sight just because the Lord told him to do so.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement through texts, calls, messages and gifts- we are so truly thankful to be surrounded by a community of people who make us feel so loved and cared for.

Because this happened much quicker than anticipated, we didn’t get a chance to get our fundraising link out until today. If you would be so kind as to give toward our adoption, we would be eternally grateful!
