Hello friends and family,
It is difficult to know exactly where to begin, as the last few years have held many challenges for our family. However, today we are writing to you with a sense of hope for the future.
A Major Milestone
First, we are thrilled to share that Micah has completed all requirements to graduate from high school! He will receive his diploma later this month—a milestone that we are so incredibly proud to celebrate with him. While we aren’t able to host a traditional graduation party at this time, we would love for him to feel the support of his community. If you’d like to send a graduation card, please send it to our home address, and we will make sure he receives it.
Healing & Growth
Micah is currently completing a 90-day treatment program that has been life-changing. A key part of the success of this program is that one therapist is assigned for every two boys, which means that each week Micah receives up to five hours of individual therapy, and we receive one hour of parent therapy. We also spent a whole week with him in late April where we engaged in intensive family therapy. His therapist has been amazing and this focused support has fundamentally transformed our relationship with him.
A highlight of this journey has been Odenn, Micah’s chocolate lab puppy, who has been an integral part of his therapy and recovery. Odenn will be graduating from the program alongside Micah in mid-June!
The Road Ahead
While Micah is making incredible strides, his journey continues. Upon graduating the program in mid-June, he will move into an extended care program designed to ensure his long-term success.
We have been blessed by generous grants from the Ashes to Glory foundation and LifeSong for Orphans. We have chosen to use LifeSong’s fundraising platform specifically because they are offering a matching grant of up to $7,000. This means that every dollar contributed (up to $7000) will be doubled, going twice as far to support Micah’s treatment, housing, and continued care.
While we are prepared to cover the remaining costs through loans and cashing out investments, we wanted to provide this opportunity for those who would like to provide financial support for Micah.
How You Can Help
Whether through a financial contribution, sharing this message, or keeping Micah in your thoughts and prayers, we are deeply grateful for your presence in our lives. Your support means the world to us and to Micah as he takes these next brave steps.
With love and gratitude,
Ryan & Dalene
