Johnson Family’s International Adoption Story

Our Adoption Story

We are incredibly grateful to have been given a $7,000 matching grant fund administered by The Cheryl Green Fund in Veradale, WA. We want to sincerely thank them for their generosity and support of our adoption journey—because of this gift, every dollar you donate will be doubled.

Our journey to adoption has been one of deep calling, steady perseverance, and unwavering hope.

For a long time, we felt God placing adoption on our hearts. It wasn’t a sudden decision—it was something that grew quietly over time, through prayer, conversations, and a deep desire to love a child who needs a family. Eventually, that calling became something we couldn’t ignore. We said yes, even knowing it would stretch us in every possible way.

We originally began this journey pursuing adoption from Colombia. We poured our hearts into that path, completing steps and preparing for the child we believed would come through that program. But unexpectedly, our agency agreement there shut down, and we were faced with a difficult decision: step back, or step forward in a new direction.

We chose to keep going.

That decision led us to the Ghana, Africa program through Children’s House International. While the transition came with a significant financial setback, it also brought a renewed sense of peace and excitement. Today, we are more confident than ever that this is where we are meant to be.

Since stepping into this new chapter, we have completed our home study, including background checks, legal documentation, financial reviews, medical clearances, letters of reference, and multiple interviews. We’ve also completed over 50 hours of parent education, along with cultural training and research, preparing our hearts and home for our child.

We are now in the dossier phase—gathering and submitting our international paperwork as we move closer to being matched. It’s both exciting and humbling to be here, knowing how far we’ve come and how much we are trusting God for what’s ahead.

Adoption is beautiful, but it is also costly. At this point in our journey, we have approximately $17,000 remaining in agency fees and an estimated $19,000 in travel expenses, bringing our remaining total to about $36,000. After the unexpected program change, this financial need feels especially significant—but we know we are not alone in it.

We are incredibly grateful to be partnered with Lifesong through a matching grant opportunity. They will match up to $7,000 of what is raised here—meaning every dollar given has the potential to be doubled and go even further in helping us bring our child home.

We truly believe it takes a village to bring a child home.

Your support helps remove barriers, restore what was lost in our transition, and move us forward in this calling. More than that, it reminds us that we are not walking this journey alone.

Somewhere in the world, there is a child who doesn’t yet know they are ours—and we are doing everything we can to get to them.

Thank you for believing in our family, for standing with us, and for being part of this story.

With love and gratitude,

Tyler and Danielle

Adoption Journey Update

Big milestone coming up for our family!

On Monday, May 4th ⭐ (May the 4th be with us!), we have our i800A USCIS appointment. This is an important step in our international adoption process where we complete our fingerprints and background clearances with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

The i800A approval is essentially one of the final keys in completing our dossier—the full collection of legal documents required for our adoption country. Once this appointment is processed and we receive approval back, we will be ready to submit everything!

That means we will be able to send in our completed dossier along with the $7,000 submission payment, which is currently our main fundraising goal.

After dossier submission… we enter one of the most exciting phases yet:
💛 the matching process 💛

This is when we begin waiting to be matched with the child God has chosen for our family. We are so close to this next step and feeling incredibly grateful for everyone walking alongside us.

Every prayer, every share, every bit of support truly matters. We can’t wait to keep you updated as we move closer to bringing our child home.
