Help bring Phoebe a sibling!

Josh and Elizabeth McInnis
Josh and Elizabeth McInnis Raleigh, North Carolina

In 2022, Elizabeth and I started our adoption journey, and in 2023 were blessed with our daughter, Phoebe.

Phoebe was a “stork drop” baby, meaning that she was already born when we received the call from our adoption agency letting us know whether we wanted to parent this born baby who was born 12 weeks premature. We immediately said yes, and the next day drove a few states away to meet our daughter. We remained with her in the NICU for over three months, and now she is two years old: healthy, energetic, affectionate, and very social.

We have wanted to have more than one child, and Phoebe will make a great big sister. She already loves seeing other babies and children, and is starting to help around the house. Phoebe has been a delight and a blessing, and we are eager to welcome into our home the next child with whom God blesses us.

Lifesong, the Christian organization which provides this mySTORY platform to approved adoptive families such as ours, was a huge help and catalyst to us in our previous adoption, and we are happy that they are partnering with us again. We are especially excited that we have been awarded $7,500 in matching grants from Josiah’s Adoption Fund + Lifesong for Orphans: this means that for all cumulative donations up to the first $7,500 we raise will be matched dollar for dollar!

We would appreciate your support as we pursue this process of adoption: any donations are sent directly to Lifesong. Lifesong escrows the donations, and will only reimburse us for eligible adoption expenses. Lifesong is 501c(3) and does not take a cut of the donations. Individual donations $50 or more and yearly donations totaling $250 or more will receive a tax-deductible receipt.

What expenses do your donation help to cover? The biggest qualifying adoption expenses are adoption agency fees (including placement fees), adoption lawyer fees, travel (we will be adopting out of state), and birth mother expenses (for example, if a birth mother is going to lose income because of her pregnancy).

Thank you for your support, whether financial, prayers, or both!

STRIPE charges an online processing fee (2.2% +.30 USD per transaction)*. Your donations will be decreased by this amount. You may also send a check payable to “Lifesong for Orphans”. Over halfway there!

August 1, 2025

Thank you to all of you have supported us with donations: we are already over halfway to our matching grant total! We will be thanking each of you personally soon.

We continue to wait to be matched, but are used to that from the time leading up to Phoebe’s adoption. Summer is typically a quieter time of year on the infant adoption front, but we still see opportunities presented to us somewhat regularly. We just have not been picked yet by an expectant mother.

Hopefully, this time we will matched well ahead of time prior to birth and will be in expectation of the baby’s due date, but we are prepared either way.

Phoebe has taken an increased interest in her baby doll toys: we cannot wait to see her with a real baby sibling in her arms!
