Following God’s Calling To Adopt

Tim & Nicole Wilson
Tim & Nicole Wilson

On one of our first dates we discovered that we both had a heart for adoption. We didn’t know when or how, but we knew God had placed that calling on our hearts.

In 2016 after having our first son who was born with Down syndrome (and autism), we pursued the international adoption of a little boy with Down syndrome in Ukraine. Sadly he passed away before we could bring him into our family. Our hearts were broken, but God had a different plan for us at that time as we discovered days later that Nicole was pregnant with our second son.

We went on to have two additional, biological sons, but that call to adopt remained on our hearts.

After our fourth son, Nicole had some physical complications where she was advised not to have any more biological children. We knew we wanted to continue to grow our family, and this seemed like God’s timing for us to adopt.

We started the process to adopt in July of 2024. In October of 2024 we became home study approved and applied to a few national, domestic adoption agencies.

We have yet to be matched with a child. We have presented many times to birth mothers but have yet to be chosen. We are hopeful and praying that our family will be chosen soon.

We have four boys who are excited about having a new sibling or two. We aren’t sure what God has in store for our family, but we are following His lead and are open to whatever He has for us. This could potentially mean adopting twins or siblings.

We have a lot of love to give and can’t wait to see the story that God is writing for us unfold.

We are hoping to raise around $50,000. It was important to us to choose an ethical agency that would provide care and counseling to the birth mother and baby. This will help cover those expenses along with agency fees, adoption finalization fees, and birth mother medical expenses.

We are so thankful to have been awarded a $7,500 matching grant from Harvest Church Adoption Fund and Lifesong for Orphans! This means that every dollar donated up to the first $7,500 will be matched and have double the impact!

Thank you so much for joining our family in this journey! We really appreciate your financial support and prayer! God has been so faithful thus far, and we have confidence that He will provide everything we need.

Twin Adoption Failed

May 29, 2026

It is with a very broken and shattered heart that I share that our adoption of the twin girls has failed.

Unfortunately we were scammed. As of Wednesday May 27th, birth mom claimed that she was still pregnant, however the agency called the local hospital and they confirmed that she had the babies last Friday May 22nd. Because we were paying birth mom’s expenses (gas, groceries, rent, medical), we believe she was trying to “milk” this for as long as possible. The adoption agency is reporting the birth mom as fraud, but they said nothing will come of it. There are virtually no protections for adoptive families and no repercussions for birth moms who scam.

Our heart just breaks for those sweet little girls that we loved so much and the difficult life ahead for them. We know that birth mom is not a safe person and she lost custody of several of her other kids. The thought of these twin girls going into foster care, which seems likely, breaks our hearts. May God protect them.

I’m grateful for my faith and that I can cling to Jesus during this confusing and difficult time. We live in a very broken world but thankfully there is a remedy for that. There is a God who defeated sin, death, and darkness. There is a God who will one day make all things new.

Revelation 21:3-5- “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new”. Also, he said, “write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true”.”

All you have to do to receive this eternal gift of life is repent of your sin and turn in faith to Jesus. Through all of our hardships with Mason’s medical issues, this adoption, etc. my prayer is that God will be glorified and that his name will be known through every tongue, tribe, and nation.

I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who prayed for us, encouraged us, and donated to us. Your support meant more to us than you could ever know. We aren’t sure how this journey ends. We don’t know if God will ever bring a child to us through adoption. However we aren’t quite ready to give up yet. We are leaving the door open a while longer, praying hard, and seeing what God has in store. To everyone who donated financially, we are keeping the funds in our Lifesong account to be used for a future adoption of ours, Lord willing.

We’re Adopting Twins!!!

April 17, 2026

We are so excited to announce that we are officially matched with a birth mom who is expecting twin girls and is due June 11th!

A little detail that we left out of our adoption origin story (see original post), on our second date, we talked about adopting twin girls, and we have been praying specifically for twin girls throughout this whole process.

God has had His hand in this entire adoption journey. It hasn’t been easy, but God has been faithful and near to us. He is writing a really awesome story declaring His glory.

We want to express our complete gratitude to everyone who has prayed for us and supported us. We are stepping out in faith and trusting God to provide for the expenses that come with this adoption.

Due to the birth mom not having insurance or medicaid and having twin girls, adoption expenses will be very high.

The expenses include: birth mom’s medical expenses and living expenses, agency fees, and lawyer fees. We will also have travel expenses because birth mom is in Virginia, and we will have to stay in state 2-4 weeks for the legal process to complete.

We are estimating that our total expenses will be around $100,000.

For full transparency, we had to pay $30,000 out of pocket when we were matched, and the rest of the expenses are due when the babies are born. It is very likely that twins will come early. We hope to raise funds as soon as possible.

We are beyond excited and would also covet prayers for our family, for the birth mom, and for the baby girls.

Thank you for partnering with us as we bring these girls into our family! We are so grateful for any donations, prayers, and support.

Please feel free to share our story and this donation link!
