Cody & Casey Speck Adoption Testimony
We were married five years ago, but long before that, we both felt adoption would one day be part of our story. After coming to know Christ at a young age, Cody at five years old and Casey at fifteen, we each understood what it meant to be sinners saved by grace through faith, to be adopted into God’s family. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) “But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12) That truth has always shaped the way we see family and God’s redemptive work in our lives.
As we each followed God’s call to attend Bible college and prepare for ministry, God eventually brought our paths together. From the beginning, we shared a mutual love for the Lord and a deep desire to build a family rooted in faith. Adoption was already close to our hearts, as both of us have seen its beauty firsthand through our extended families and close friends within our church who have walked that journey.
After getting married, we felt led to begin growing our family, but that journey soon became one of waiting and trusting. In time, we sensed the Lord leading us to start building our family through adoption first. After months of prayer and seeking wisdom about where and how to adopt, whether domestically, internationally, or through foster care, we felt a strong peace about pursuing international adoption through Lifeline Children’s Services, a Christian agency whose mission and values align deeply with ours.
After learning more about the different programs and prayerfully considering the needs of each country, we felt the Lord leading us to Colombia. We are excited and humbled to step forward in faith, trusting that God is weaving a story far greater than our own.
We know that this journey will stretch and grow us, not only as a family but in our faith. Our prayer is that through this process, we would reflect the love of Christ, the One who has adopted us into His family, and that our home would be a living testimony of His mercy, grace, and redemption. “We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
Will you partner with us to bring our child home? We are asking for your commitment to pray with us throughout this journey. We have begun our home study and have much ahead of us. International adoption can take one to two years, so please pray for patience as we walk through the process. Pray that the Lord will guide us to the child/children He has chosen for us.
We also ask that you prayerfully consider giving financially to our adoption fund as you feel led. While $53,000 is an intimidating number to us, it is not to the Lord, and we trust that He will provide exactly what is needed for us to be obedient to what He has called us to do.
We also have exciting news to share!! We have been awarded a $8,000 matching grant from La Via de James Foundation Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. So each dollar you give helps us get closer with our matching grant!
The $53,000 goes to cover all the expenses that are included in the adoption (government fees, flights, hotels, education training, agency fees, home study fees, passports, visas, security clearances, adoption conference dues, medical evaluations, document translations, and more!
Thanks for being a part of our story! Will you partner with us?
