Our road to adoption, and parenthood in general, has been much more of a rollercoaster than expected. We have walked a difficult road through infertility for the past 5 years and have so desperately longed for a baby. After countless doctors appointments, surgery and procedures, we decided to stop pursuing medical treatments after our 4th failed round of IVF this past February. We felt the Lord guiding us to close that door, but we didn’t know where He was leading us next. After years and years of continuing to walk through open doors in hopes of giving birth to our own babies, God picked us up and redirected our hearts and our steps towards adoption.
We are so thankful God placed adoption on our hearts, and we truly cannot wait to grow our family this way! We are overjoyed at the thought of bringing a baby into our home, and we’re prepared to shower them with so much love and affection. One of our deepest desires is to have children and to fill our home with so much joy and love.
Over the last few years, we’ve come to believe more deeply the truth that God has been in control of every moment of our lives. There was not one tear we cried that He – the God of empathy, the God who sees us – didn’t cry with us. May we believe that truth more deeply with each passing day and through every challenge life gives us.
We are currently “active” in the adoption process, which means we’ve completed all necessary preliminary work and are waiting to match with a birth mom. This part of the process comes with a lot of excitement, nerves, fear, impatience – all the things! Above all, we would be so grateful for your prayers as we navigate this new road. There is so much to learn and process, but thankfully we have a great team walking us through it all.
Now to the money part – eek! If you’re reading this, you’ve probably reached our Lifesong/mySTORY page, and this is the spot where we will be accepting donations for part of our adoption costs. Adoption is a beautiful gift, but it comes at a substantial cost. If you have the resources and feel moved to support us financially, we would be so incredibly grateful for you to jump on board and partner with us in that way. We want to emphasize that no gift is too small and every single dollar is so important to getting us to our goal! Lifesong for Orphans is a Nonprofit organization, and giving through them will allow your gifts to be tax-deductible. Because they’re a nonprofit, there are specific legal uses for these funds. All funds collected through Lifesong/mySTORY will be used for agency fees, prenatal and postnatal care for the birth Mom, travel fees (for flights and an Airbnb…we’ll likely be matching with a Mom in another state!), legal fees, and home study fees.
We have been awarded $7,000 in matching grants from Fellowship Evangelical Free Church Adoption Fund & Lifesong for Orphans. This means once we reach $7,000 in donations, we will be given a matching grant of $7,000 – doubling your donation! We are so grateful and honored to receive this gift!
We’re fully aware that many aren’t in a place where they have extra funds for something like this, and if that’s you we would just ask for your continued prayers on this journey – for discernment as decisions come our way, for health and safety for our birth Mom and her baby during pregnancy and delivery, and that God would be close and evident as we prepare our hearts and our home for this gift, and as we learn more about how to parent well in this unique and wonderful way!
