We are T.C. and Lexie Capps. Our heart for adoption began over 10 years ago. When dating, we discussed the importance of family and how we envisioned our family. We always hoped to have biological and adopted children. We have now been married 10 years and have 2 incredible boys. Our first son was born in 2018. Our second son was born in 2020. After he was born, we began to discuss adoption again.
On Mother’s Day in 2022, I was brought to tears, feeling God was calling us to adoption. Immediately, we contacted an agency local to us and started the process. A little over a year into our wait, we got the call our hearts had longed for. “You have been matched, and you have a healthy baby girl!” Full of excitement, we rushed to the hospital to meet the most beautiful baby girl. We stayed all afternoon in the room with her birthparents. The hospital capacity was full, so we were sent home for the night and told to return in the morning for discharge.. The following morning, we packed up, our boys so excited, heading to get sister. Only minutes into driving, I received a message not to proceed to the hospital. “Please do not proceed. They have changed their minds and decided to parent.” What a mix of emotions. Grieving as we were excited to extend our family, yet thankful that a new family was beginning. God’s plan was prevailing, but not in the way we thought.
After lots of waiting and prayer, we also decided to try for another child of our own. I had great pregnancies with my boys and did not struggle to get pregnant. Unexpectedly, getting pregnant became really difficult. We experienced secondary infertility for a year and a half, and after a little help in January 2025, we found out I was pregnant. An answered prayer, and we were so excited. March 3, 2025. We hear the dreaded words,” I’m sorry, there is no heartbeat”. We were crushed, and I had lots of complications. Fast forward to May. I was having abdominal pain and went to the ER. Thinking it was my appendix, we got the surprise that I am pregnant again. Scared, excited, and overwhelmed, we spent the next few weeks doing all we could to watch this baby and keep my levels up. Yet again, we are faced with the words ” I’m so sorry. There is no heartbeat.” I had complications again, but this time, worse. 3 days after losing my baby, I went septic. My Doctor still isn’t sure why it happened. Since then, we found that I developed multiple disorders that are pregnancy-related, and it is no longer safe for me to be pregnant.
When God brings you to something. It is never easy. In our deepest valleys, when we were falling to our knees like never before, He was always there leading us. We know without a doubt that on that day back in 2022, God was leading us to adoption. He has grown our faith tremendously throughout our trials, and looking back, we know he was preparing us for his plan.
We are thrilled to announce that we recently matched with an expecting mama due in August. After years of waiting, we now have the privilege of supporting this wonderful mama. We are also facing an adoption debt that is greater than we anticipated. We have been awarded a $2500 matching grant by Lifesong for Orphans and a $4500 matching grant by Josiah's Adoption Fund. We are so thankful. We need about 60k to pay for our adoption. If you feel led to support us financially, we are incredibly grateful. If not financially, we appreciate your prayer support.
