Campbell Family Adoption Story

Jack Campbell
Jack Campbell Midland, Virginia

The Lord began to stir our hearts to adoption in 2018 when we experienced three miscarriages in a row after having three healthy children. We began praying that God would direct our steps and desires if He wanted us to continue to grow our family in a different way. As we have delighted ourselves in the Lord, He has given us desires that match the desires of His heart (Psalm 37:4). The season of miscarriages in 2018 really shaped our views of eternity, of God, and of His character. Our lives changed course at that time, leading us to sell everything and move to West Africa to work in Bible translation. All throughout that time, we were praying and researching what it would look like to adopt from West Africa, where we now call home. And throughout those years, the Lord was deepening our trust in His provision and faithfulness. He was convicting us about the situation of orphans around the world, deepening our understanding of the brokenness that leads to the need for adoption, and giving us a vision for the beauty of the gospel shown through adoption. Now, as we’re raising our children in Africa, we are every day more excited to be the safe and stable place for more children who God will bring into our home.

Adoption Visa Exemption

January 30, 2026

We wanted to give you a quick update about the visa pause that the US Government recently put on Liberia. Thousands of people (including many of you) wrote to their Senators and Representatives asking for adoption visas to be exempted from that pause. And your voices were heard. The US has officially announced the continuation of immigration visas for adopted children, and even put a priority on processing these cases. This should allow our case to move quickly when the time comes to apply for a visa.

Awaiting Referral

January 30, 2026

After years of home study and immigration applications, we are thrilled to announce that we are officially awaiting the referral of children from Liberia. We are up-to-date on payments and paperwork, so the next step is to receive information about a sibling group ready to be adoption in Liberia. This will kick off the next steps of child-specific paperwork and eventually going to Liberia.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

Why $30,000?

January 30, 2026

If you’ve been following our adoption journey, there may be some confusion as to how much money we actually need to raise and the best way to give toward our adoption fundraiser. So I wanted to clear that up a bit.

We initially used another fundraising platform that enabled us to start our fundraising journey and get the first few large fees taken care of. They were great to work with and really got us a great launch on the project.

However, Lifesong for Orphans generously offered us a $7000 matching grant, meaning they will double the first $7000 that comes in through their platform. So we were automatically set up on this new platform as a way to take advantage of this offer. Their admin fees are also paid by separate donors, so every dollar given here goes straight to our adoption. This has all been a huge help to us and the reason we’ve changed fundraising platforms.

So where does $30,000 come from? Through the other platform and through individual giving, we’ve raised over $40,000 already! We have been blown away by your generosity. That leaves approximately $30,000 to raise from the original total. So we’ve set the goal here to represent the remaining need that we need to raise through this platform.

We are confident that God will provide the funds for this adoption and we’re thankful for each one of you that has already taken part in giving!
