The Bostic Family Adopts From Hungary

Kari Bostic Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina

We are Chris and Kari Bostic of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.  In the early years of our marriage, we became increasingly aware of the great need for children both locally and around the world to be fostered and adopted.  Since those early years, the Lord has been leading us into a unified desire to bring a child into our family through adoption.  We desire to mirror the abundant welcome God has given us to join His family by giving a child a loving and unconditional welcome into our family.  We are presently a family of 6, with Anya (7), Clara (6), Shepherd (3), and Elodie (2), and every one of us is eager to bring another child into our family through adoption.

After our youngest daughter was born, we partnered with Lifeline Children’s Services and began the process in another country’s adoption program when we heard about Lifeline’s pilot program with the country of North Macedonia.  Knowing our wait time in our current country was continuing to increase due to a variety of factors, we felt confident making the change to North Macedonia with the hope that we could both “go first” and help other families later in the process as well as bring a waiting child home sooner.  We are excited to continue to learn about North Macedonian culture and feel a growing connection to and an affinity for the country after our short time living next door in Athens, Greece in 2012-2013.

We are so thankful for the support of our family and friends, neighbors, and church family.  We are consistently encouraged by their love and generosity throughout this adoption process. We do not intend to raise our biological or adopted children on our own, but by leaning into the fullness of the body of Christ as one of God’s most abundant gifts to us.  We would love for you to partner with us through prayer, encouragement, and financial support.  We hope to travel with our whole family to North Macedonia to welcome our child home and communicate that we are one full family, adopted and biological, brought into the fold of Christ’s own family through adoption ourselves.  We anticipate this being an expensive welcome home trip, but we are passionate about bringing this child into our family all together.  Our complete adoption costs are projected to be between $50,000-$60,000, which includes foreign fees, agency fees, travel expenses, visas, etc.

We’ve received matching grants totalling $8000 from 5000 Orphans Fund and Lifesong for Orphans.  That means every dollar we raise here is generously matched, doubling its effect!  Would you consider partnering with us to bring our child home and share the love and hope of Christ?

We are confident that God, who gave us his Son, will also abundantly give us all we need as we seek to follow him in love and obedience.

Bringing Ari Home

July 17, 2026

We are thrilled to share the news that we’ve matched with a precious 3 year old boy in Hungary named Ari.  We will travel as a family to Hungary in the beginning of September to meet him, spend time bonding with him, and finalize our adoption of him. This will be a 7 week experience, as we fulfill Hungary’s requirements in each area.  Our whole family is so excited to welcome Ari into our family, we can’t wait for him to be a brother and son in the Bostic Family.

If you’ve been following along with our adoption process from afar, you might be wondering about changes in our expected timeline and country.  Let us get you up to speed with a quick recap–

After our youngest daughter, Elodie, was born, we partnered with Lifeline Children’s Services and began the process in the Hungary adoption program in the summer of 2022.  After beginning the process in Hungary, we heard from Lifeline about their desire to begin a pilot program with North Macedonia.  Knowing our wait time in Hungary was increasing due to a variety of factors, we felt confident making the change to North Macedonia with the hope that we could both “go first” and help other families later in the process and also be able to bring a waiting child into our family sooner.  After a period of time waiting to be matched with a completed Dossier in North Macedonia, we made the difficult decision, in coordination with Lifeline, to transition out of North Macedonia due to difficulties with the North Macedonian adoption officials.  After that decision, we pursued several children on Lifeline’s Waiting Child list but were not eligible or selected for these children.  After several months, we transitioned back into the Hungary program where we have been matched with a 3-year-old boy named Aron.  Our family is overjoyed to be matched and cannot wait to meet our son!

Ari is already loved and treasured by each of us.  While we know that challenges await us as we transition into an adoptive family, we are so excited to bring home.  It has been our joy to walk with the Lord through this portion of adoption experience over that past 4+ years and we feel confident that we know and love and trust him more now than when we started.  He has done in us and for us what we could not and we firmly believe that he who has begun a good thing in us will carry it out to completion.

As we prepare for our family to travel in less than 7 weeks, we will be offering a few ways for others to partner with us financially and through prayer.  We will post further updates soon about ways to support us during this time.  As always, we hope that any goodness and faithfulness in us illuminates the immense beauty and faithfulness of our God. To him be all glory!
