Hi there! We are the Barbees, and the Lord has given us a heart and a burden for adoption. As many of you know, we have a biological daughter (EJ), and in 2024 we were able to adopt our second daughter (Vinia) from India. We felt the Lord drawing us back into the adoption process in the summer of 2025, and we began this whole wild ride all over again.
Why, you may ask? First, we cannot ignore the Lord's call to "care for widows and orphans" (James 1:27), and we know that what we do for the least of these, we do for Christ Himself (Matt. 25:40). Second, part of our story with Vinia is that we were terrified by what her special needs looked like on paper—and were even advised by some that maybe she wasn't the right fit for us. Long story short, the Lord made it clear that she certainly was, and He has amazed us with what He has done in and through her in defying all the odds set against her.
Our journey increased our faith in the Lord, our reliance on His strength, and our endurance, while also strengthening the bond in our family. When we felt His pressing in June 2025, we thought again: Can we do this? But as we witnessed with Vinny, the Lord doesn't always prepare us in advance for what we will experience—it is moment by moment, season by season, requiring faith and complete reliance on Him.
So we know:
- There are millions of children who need a family.
- We are a family able to welcome more children into our home.
- He has placed this desire for obedience on our hearts.
- What He has called us to, He will bring us through (even if it's not easy), and we will love Him more for it.

So much so that we have said we are open to potentially even a sibling set, of up to two children. This doesn't mean we will be guranteed a match with a sibling set, but that if timing lines up and there is a sibling set in our approved age range availble, this is a match option for our family.
