We are thrilled to have accepted a referral to adopt 2-year-old Andre from the country of Georgia and to bring him home this fall!
For a long time, adoption has been on our minds for our family. Our family has been blessed by our sons Joseph and Dominic, and we have also experienced loss due to multiple miscarriages. In 2020 we decided to begin our adoption journey. We started on the domestic infant adoption path, and mainly due to the Covid situation, it was more difficult to match than we expected.
We decided to pursue international adoption in 2022 and registered for the country of Bulgaria. As we began to be discouraged with the wait time for a referral in Bulgaria, our agency let us know that an 18-month-old boy from the country of Georgia became available (Andre!). We quickly decided to pursue adopting Andre and changed our country. Switching countries involved updates with our home study and dossier (lots of paperwork!).
In June, we officially accepted Andre’s referral and are waiting for a court date to travel to pick him up! Our child, Andre, is a sweet and affectionate 2-year-old – we can’t wait to meet him!
After five long years of home studies, training, and applications, we were finally able to share with Joseph and Dominic our adoption news. “Is this the… best news?” wide-eyed Joseph said as we began our announcement. The boys jumped up and down at the thought of another boy.
We want to invite you into this journey for Andre and our family. We would love your prayers as we prepare to welcome Andre home and for the travel! If you have any personal connections in the country of Georgia, we’d also love to know.
We also wanted to share the exciting news that in addition to a few other grants, we have received a $7,000 matching grant from the Tim Tebow Foundation Adoption Fund through Lifesong for Orphans! This means that if you feel led to donate toward the cost of the adoption (over $55,000), anything you donate will be matched by Lifesong. Our goal date for raising the $7,000 for the matching grant is October 15, but funds will be accepted towards our adoption until Andre is home and/or our adoption is complete.
STRIPE charges an online processing fee (2.2% +.30 USD per transaction)*. Your donations will be decreased by this amount. You may also send a check payable to “Lifesong for Orphans”. Lifesong has been blessed with partners who underwrite all U.S. administrative and fundraising costs (TMG Foundation and other partners). That means 100% of your donation will go directly to the adoption.
- In following IRS guidelines, your donation is to Lifesong for Orphans. This organization retains full discretion over its use, but intends to honor the donor’s suggested use.
- Lifesong is a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Individual donations of $50 or more and yearly donations totaling $250 or more will receive a tax-deductible receipt. Receipts for donations under $50 will gladly be sent upon request.
