Adoption is woven into the very fabric of our family — in fact, without it, our family wouldn’t exist at all. Lindsay’s grandmother, Holly, was adopted at age two, and that one act of love set everything in motion for generations to come.
Now, as we look to grow our family, we feel strongly that we want to adopt. Lindsay has wanted to adopt since she was a teenager, and Conner has wanted to build our family through adoption since we were foster parents in Wichita, KS. We have gone through fertility treatments with all three of our pregnancies which was very difficult, especially after losing our first baby, Peyton James, via miscarriage. At the beginning of fertility treatment, we began discussing adoption more because we were unsure if we would be able to have biological children. Although we were able to have biological children over time, the call to adopt never faded. We are so eager to meet our future child, their birth family, and to be part of an open adoption. Not only are we excited to bring another baby into our family, but we are prayerful that we will also expand our family by having a healthy relationship with the birth family for the rest of our lives.
Although we are incredibly excited about growing our family, the financial side of adoption is quite overwhelming with our estimated expenses around $60,000. We have surrendered this component of adoption to the Lord, but we will be completely honest in saying that sometimes it is worrisome. Some days, it feels impossible to obtain such a large amount of money. We have worked hard to save money for the adoption and we are currently 50% of the way to the funds needed to bring our baby home! We’ve been beyond blessed to be awarded an $8,000 matching grant administered by La Vida de James Foundation, so any donation we receive through this account, up to $8,000, will be matched! We can’t thank you enough for reading our story, being part of our journey, donating, sharing our fundraiser, and praying over this adoption experience for all parties involved.
