Jeffries Family Adoption

Paul Jeffries
Paul Jeffries Richmond, Virginia

Our adoption story began before we were married. Lily and I were attending McLean Bible Church and were privileged to sit under teaching that clearly expounded the Biblical call to care for orphans. We were also blessed to live in community with countless families who had adopted internationally and who showed us both the difficulty and beauty of adoption. We discussed our dreams for children in dating, and it was clear from early on that the Lord intended for us to build our family through international adoption as well as biological children.

We’re pursuing the adoption of a child from Colombia through Lifeline Children’s Services – a process that will unfold over the next few years as we complete our home study and other required filings, prepare our home and hearts, and wait for the child God intends for our family. Given the average age of children adopted from Colombia, it’s likely that child has already been born, and even though we don’t have a name or photo at this stage, we invite you to pray with us for them even now.

Now for why you’re reading this on a fundraising page: we were recently blessed with a $5,000 matching grant from Lifesong for Orphans, which means every gift given here is doubled (a $50 gift becomes $100, etc.) up to the full match. These are tax-deductible gifts to Lifesong, a 501(c)(3), that go directly toward the costs of adoption (e.g. agency fees).

But more than funds, we want to invite you into this. Adoption was never meant to be carried by one family alone; it’s the work of a whole community reflecting God’s heart for the vulnerable. Would you pray with us: for our future child, for the process, and for our family as we wait? And if you feel led to give, know that you’re joining a story of a child being brought home.

With gratitude,

Paul & Lily
