Prough Family Adoption

Brooklyn Prough Omaha, Nebraska

Before we even got married, Brooklyn and I were already planning to adopt someday. We had seen so many people whose lives were changed for the better through adoption—children, birth parents, and adoptive parents—and we decided we wanted to be a part of that someday. We also love adoption because, as Christians, we view it as one of the most beautiful pictures of the gospel. The word “adoption” is used multiple times in the New Testament to describe the way that we can relate to God through our faith in Jesus. For that reason, we don’t consider adoption to be a “bad word”. Quite the contrary: it is the best word we can imagine!

Two bio kids later, we feel we are ready. Our hearts are ready, our kids are ready, and our home is ready… but our bank account isn’t. When we entered into this, we felt strongly that the Lord was leading us towards is, but we also knew that my teacher’s salary was not going to be enough to cover all the expenses, so we decided we would step out in faith and trust Him to handle the financials.

He has done that in spades, specifically through the generosity of the people in our lives. Thanks to your kindness, we have been able to raise over $15,000! We are so unbelievably thankful and blown away by the support we have received.

Because of that, we have been able to complete all required trainings, finish our home studies, and take care of a lot of the little things costs that come with adoption. We are now officially on an adoption waiting list, something which would have been a legitimate impossibility without the kindness and generosity of our friends and family.

However, between placement fees, legal fees, and post-placement fees, we are still about $15,000 short of our total goal. Thanks to Lifesong and our amazing church, Coram Deo, we are approved for a $6000 matching grant! Now that every donation counts for twice as much, we would be honored if you would consider donating to support our adoption journey!

STRIPE charges an online processing fee (2.2% +.30 USD per transaction)*. Your donations will be decreased by this amount. You may also send a check payable to “Lifesong for Orphans”. In the memo line please write “Prough 12241”, to ensure it is credited to our account. Please mail to Lifesong for Orphans, PO Box 9, Gridley, IL 61744.
