The Berg’s Liberia Adoption

Kim Berg Waipahu, Hawaii
Praise God for his provision.
We were members of a church back when we lived in Colorado, and after posting that we were adopting, we found out that they opened a fund specifically for former members who are seeking help with an adoption. That was wild and incredible for us to hear as it was something we never even knew about and shows how sovereign our God is.
We just found out that they approved a matching grant for us funded by both The Oaks Church in Denver that was matched by Lifesong for Orphans that will be a huge help for our fundraising. If anyone would like to give toward that, this is the page to do it.
We have some pending major updates to post, but are waiting to know for sure on those before we do. We should know more later this month. Lord willing, we are going to be able to go in-person to finalize the adoption around this time next year.
We’re preparing to submit our dossier to Liberia and have some large costs there, so we deeply appreciate all the continual and ongoing support from everyone.
Our God is good and he is graciously blessing this process, and we are so encouraged by everyone’s giving and prayers.
Our Original Post:

We have spent the past 3 years praying, waiting, and hoping to have a child of our own.

By the grace of God, he has opened the door for us to begin the process of adopting an 11 year old girl from Liberia, and we are raising funds to help cover the many costs involved. For her safety and to not jeopardize any part of this, we were advised by our case manager not to publicly post her name and photo at this time.

We want to provide a safe, loving, and permanent home for this girl who has lost both of her parents, has nowhere to go, and no one to care for her.

As many of you know, the adoption process includes significant agency fees, legal paperwork, travel, court costs, and post-placement requirements. The total expense is estimated to be well over $50,000, and could be even more with unexpected delays (our friend’s recent adoption cost $70,000+). We cannot do this on our own, and are trusting in our Lord to provide.

We are grateful for any prayers and support as we take this step of faith and love to bring this child into our home.
