Sidney and Jacob’s Journey to Adoption

We’re glad you’re here! We’re Jacob and Sidney (and Maeve)! We are incredibly honored and excited to share that we are growing our family through the complex yet beautiful gift of adoption.

 

From the start of our relationship, our hearts have desired a large family, and we always planned for adoption to be part of our story. What we didn’t know was whether God would also bless us with biological children along the way. After 10 years of painful symptoms and searching for answers, Sidney was diagnosed with endometriosis and adenomyosis. After two surgeries to repair the damage, our doctor told us that our only way to have a biological child would be through IVF (in vitro fertilization). We spent a few months thinking and praying on our decision,and ultimately decided to do a single round of IVF before pursuing adoption. 

 

IVF gave us two embryos. We transferred the first embryo in May 2023, which resulted in our incredible blessing of a daughter, Maeve. We transferred the second embryo in October 2025. The second transfer resulted in another pregnancy which, very unfortunately, resulted in a miscarriage a few weeks later. We are eternally grateful for our Maeve, and our hearts will always carry grief for the baby we lost. However, we do trust that God has a beautiful plan to grow our family. Adoption is not and never has been our Plan B. It has always been our plan A, we just didn’t know the right timing. 

 

We began the adoption process a few months ago. Our family is currently home study approved to adopt, working with two local agencies, and waiting for an expecting mama to choose our family to raise her precious baby. Last month, we were honored to have been chosen by a mom who ultimately decided to parent her baby. While we were saddened for ourselves, of course, we completely respect her decision and are happy for mama and baby. We were honored to have even been chosen and considered. Now, we are once again waiting for a brave, expecting mother to choose our family to raise her precious baby. 

 

We have encountered significant pain and disappointment while growing our family, but our faith in God and His divine plan has never wavered. We have been and will continue to follow the peace of God and trust that He has put this holy dream in our hearts for a reason. We don’t believe God causes bad things to happen, but we fully believe God can use all things for good and for His glory. We believe this was true with our fertility journey, and we believe it will continue to be true for our family’s future. We are truly trying to approach this journey with open hands to receive whatever God has planned for us, responding to his direction with faith and obedience.

Donations: If you know much about adoption, you probably know that it comes with significant costs (averaging between $50,000-$70,000) which include financial and emotional support for the birth mother, legal expenses, agency coordination fees, medical expenses, home study fees, etc… We have so generously been awarded a $6000 matching grant Fund administered by Kingsland Baptist Fund in Katy, TX.
