Our first attempt to adopt…
Hi, we’re Clint and Jami & we have had adoption on our hearts for the past 13 years. Early in our marriage, we had the desire to adopt a boy to add to our family of four. We went through DCFS and became a licensed foster home and had a placement of two little girls, at this time we had four girls under 4 in our home. This was a very difficult season for our family as the girls struggled to connect and we were going through a very rocky time after Clint had spent significant time away with the military. Jami was working as an elementary teacher full time while also enrolled in courses to get her Masters degree and our family wasn't in a healthy place. We made the very difficult decision to move the girls out of our home so that we could heal what was broken in our home.
God uses the most broken parts…
Shortly after this, our marriage and family began to crumble until God intervened. Clint was saved and we began the hard work of repairing. We traveled together when we were able, tagging along to military trainings and rebuilt with God at the center. Jami began homeschooling to continue traveling and making some incredible memories and we fell in love with it. This was a huge transition financially but God was faithful & honored our decision. Fast forward to early 2025, we were at church one Sunday morning and heard about Lifesong. We had still always wanted to adopt but with Jami being a stay at home mom, we just believed it wasn’t in the cards for us. In 2025 we had a call with Lifesong and were given the advice that “money is the last thing you need to worry about, all you need to do is be obedient” so that’s what we did. For the past year we have just continued taking the next obedient step. We have been through 4 heartbreaking failed matches only for God to have a mama reach out with not only one little boy, but two brothers she wanted to have placed in our home. We have continuously prayed over the past year for very clear open and/or closed doors and God has shown up in a big way. We weren’t expecting him to open the door to two more children! I’m sure we will never fully understand all the tiny details He put in place out of His goodness. We hope that our adoption story can encourage people that God can and will use the most broken parts of your heart and redeem them perfectly if you allow Him to & we are eternally grateful for any support you can give! We are so appreciative that Lifesong has granted us a $4,000 matching grant as we fundraise. Thank you for reading to our story and for considering giving.
