White Family: Party of 4

We always knew that adoption would be part of the story God was writing for us. But we had no idea how that story would unfold. While we were dating, way back in 2007, it became clear to both of us that God was calling us to adopt. We believed adoption was a way that we could demonstrate the gospel through our family.

We knew that adoption comes from the heart of God, that He has commanded the church to care for the orphan, and that we ourselves had been adopted into God's family through faith in Christ.

We were motivated to adopt because of who God is and what He has done for us.

But we still wanted to have children naturally as well. After a few years of trying to conceive, Carmen was diagnosed with breast cancer. She bravely endured multiple surgeries, five rounds of chemotherapy, and months of radiation therapy. Her treatment culminated in a hysterectomy.

(We are happy to report that she has been in total remission for 7 years!)

While theology was our initial motivation for adoption, biology edited our timeline. After the treatments were over, we decided to begin the adoption process.

The Lord was faithful to us. He turned our mourning into dancing. He brought us from sorrow to joy. In less than a year and a half, God provided, through the generosity of believers throughout the country, 100% of the funds we needed! In 2016, we got the call that a baby boy would soon be born and his birth mother had chosen us to raise him as our own. We rushed across several state lines and arrived at the hospital moments after our son was born.

From that moment on, our son has been one of God's greatest gifts to us and a source of unending joy in our lives. Wesley James is now a rambunctious, brilliant, hilarious, compassionate, and beautiful four year old. We love bring his parents more than we could possibly describe.

Now, we are excited to begin the adoption journey one more time! We are eager to bring another child into our family through the domestic adoption process. We are thrilled to be working with a Christ-centered agency called Lifeline Christian Services.

To the praise of God's grace, we have been given a $4,000 matching grant from the Karis Adoption Fund (administered by Lifesong for Orphans). Adoption is a very expensive endeavor. We expect the total cost to be somewhere between $30,000–35,000. But the Lord provided what we needed once and we believe He will do it again!

Thank you for praying for us!

Thank you for helping us financially as we seek to bring another child into our family!

Thank you for sharing our story.

We pray that God will be glorified in our family.
