We are excited to announce that we are adopting! If there is one passion that is fundamental to our family, it would be our heart for orphans and vulnerable children. We have decided to begin our journey to adopt a child from Colombia through Lifeline Children’s Services. And here is our story.
We are Alan and Emily Casada and we have been married since 2007. Our family lives in Bowling Green, Kentucky with our two children, Eli (8) and Rosalyn (3).
Alan and I began taking short term mission trips to Mexico in 2012 with Back2Back Ministries to serve in orphanages. God continued to grow a calling and passion in both of our hearts to serve these populations more through entering into full-time ministry. After Eli was born in 2013, we moved to Mexico to work as missionaries with Back2Back Ministries at their Cancun site. From 2014 to 2016 we helped launch a community center and implemented the Strong Families program to ensure that poverty was not a reason that children could not stay with their families. Our work focused on holistically addressing needs in five areas: spiritual, education, physical, social, and emotional.
After moving back to the U.S. in 2016, Rosalyn was born in 2018. Our experiences from taking mission trips to working as missionaries, exposed our family to the vulnerabilities and needs of orphans in all parts of the world and this led to many conversations about wanting to adopt internationally. We continued to explore international adoption while praying about the decision. Still, we felt God leading our family to serve as foster parents first. We because certified foster parents through KY and opened our home to Maria, a young girl from Guatemala. We cared for her for almost a year before she reunited with her mother. Through fostering, we saw firsthand the trauma that neglect and separation from birth family can cause. Still, the experience with Maria further reinforced the desire to provide a lasting home for a child through adoption.
Through the years our love for children has continued to grow and we desire to add to our family through adoption. We want to adopt a child age 0-7 of either gender. We are grateful for the support and prayers of our families, friends, and church. Please pray for us and consider donating! We hope to be able to cover much of the cost through fundraisers and grants. We look forward to adding a child to our family soon! I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. John 14:18
We have also received a matching grant of $4,000 funded by Orphan Care Alliance through Lifesong. You must donate through Lifesong for it to count toward our matching grant. 100% of the funds go to our adoption account. These can be sent by check or through the Lifesong website.
