The Wells Adoption Story

Abigail Wells
Abigail Wells Moseley, Virginia

Joshua and I have always loved children and hoped to have lots of kids one day — a whole “wolf-pack” as my husband describes it. However, the delivery with our son, Ezra, was traumatic and led to an emergency c-section. We later learned that the c-section caused secondary infertility.

We spent a year getting surgeries to try to correct the complications, but they were unsuccessful.

Our prayer throughout this process was, yes, for healing, but also for guidance and that we would honor God in growing our family.

Per doctor recommendations, we decided to pursue surrogacy. Over the course of a few months, there were many various, and odd, roadblocks preventing us from moving forward. Meanwhile, people with their own stories of adoption started entering our life. Our love and excitment for adoption began to grow, and our prayer remained the same.

In the Spring we realized that God was urging us to pursue adoption. Through close friends, unlikely acquaintances, and happenstance scenarios, we meet all sorts of people who told us of their own adoption journeys. The stories came to us even without anyone knowing adoption was being placed on our hearts. All that to say, we decided to dive in and we’ve seen God at work!

We are now “active” and waiting to be matched through infant domestic adoption, which can range to as much as $60,000. While we pray and save, we excitedly wait for the arrival of our future baby and look forward to introducing Ezra to his little brother or sister.

We are so appreciative of your support to us during this process!

“And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” Matthew 18:5
