Hello. We are Steve and Tracey Karst and we adopt kids.
I say that not just as a catchy tagline, but I say that as it is who we are. We have a passion for vulnerable children.
It started on our first date, which actually wasn’t a date at all, but rather a phone call after a chance meeting online. We were talking and Steve claims he knew ‘immediately’ that he was going to marry me. I remember him clearly saying, “and then when we get married, I want to adopt children.”
Being a career teacher and already 28 years old I had begun the foster care process as well and knew my calling in life was to raise children so I wholeheartedly accepted his passion as well.
So here we are, 10 years later, asking for your help as we fulfill that passion-to help one more child to have a home.
In 2014 we adopted our first son through dissolution. His prognosis was grim. Now today at 8 years old he is an amazing boy that plays sports, is in a general ed classroom reading at an amazing level, loves his family and cannot wait to share his bedroom with his new little brother. Love can do amazing things for children.
In 2016 through a chance meeting with our mailman (it is amazing how these adoption stories begin!) we met our two other children who were living with an aunt and uncle who couldn’t care for them. We adopted them a few months later.
Now we would like to complete our family with a 3 year old little boy from China. “Xu Tian” has a diagnosis, but that doesn’t define him. We cannot wait to get him home
Our kids understand better than everyone this phrase that we use at home, “All kids need a mom and a dad.” Thank you for reading our story and considering partnering with us to bring Ezekiel a mom and a dad.
