First and foremost want to adopt because this is what God has called us to do. Our faith is central in our lives and the Lord as made it clear to us that this was meant to be the next step in our life journey together, so we are thrilled that God has led us to grow our family in this way! Investing our lives in education (David) and mental health and disability advocacy (Jade) has naturally led us to have hearts for service, but most importantly people. Adoption just seems to be a natural extension of all the things we value and have worked so hard to advocate for in our community- human worth and dignity, respect for all people, inclusivity, acceptance, compassion, and diversity.
Further, we feel incredibly blessed that adoption is even an option for us. Since we met in 2009 we have carved our own path and journey together- oftentimes doing so in a way that was considered non-traditional. But in doing so, we have been able to fulfill personal and professional goals and milestones, which has led us to this point in our lives and the desire to see our family grow. As far as we know, we are capable of having biological children, so adoption just happens to be our first choice in growing our family!
We pray daily for our waiting son Micah’s health and wellbeing as he waits in China, as we work to bring him home. This little boy will be so incredibly loved, valued, respected, and accepted. We know that without a doubt God has chosen us to be his parents and he, our son. Micah will certainly be the greatest gift we have ever received!
Generously, we have been awarded a $2500 matching grant from Grace Church Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. This means that for every dollar donated to our family through Lifesong for Orphans we will receive double the amount! We are so thankful for this gift! Please help us raise our final $2500, so that we can fully utilize our matching grant and complete our family by bringing Micah home in August! Travel costs for our family will be approximately $10,000 so your financial support will help us complete this final step in our adoption journey.
We anxiously await the day we get to meet our son! Thank you for supporting us!
Much love and gratitude,
David & Jade (& Micah)
