We felt God was calling us to adopt again in late 2017. We adopted Frannie and Finton from China in 2015 and they have brought so much joy and completeness to our family! We know there are millions of orphans who need homes across the world and we would be honored to become a forever family to another little one. ❤️
We heard about the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network and how 30 to 40 families who get a diagnosis of Down syndrome make an adoption plan every year in the US. We saw there was a need for more families on the registry so that each biological family had many adoptive families to choose from. We knew there was a chance we would wait a while considering our family size, but we went into this adoption with full hearts expecting a match. Our homestudy was completed in May 2018 and our wait began.
On February 12, 2019 we submitted our 14th application for a child with Down syndrome. He was Asian and his family was hoping to have other Asian children in the home. We got a call a week later that his biological family wanted to speak with us on the phone. That was one of the most nerve-racking phone calls of our lives! We had a good conversation and the next day we were told they wanted to move forward so that we could adopt their son, who we decided to call Theo.
We traveled to Seattle on March 13th, had a lovely dinner with his biological parents on the 14th and they placed Theo in our arms on the 15th. He’s absolutely perfect!! We have an open adoption relationship with his parents and we know this match was God ordained.
Recently, we were awarded a $3500 matching grant from Chosen & Dearly Loved Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans! This means they will match funds we raise up to $3500, giving us a total of $7000 toward our on-going adoption expenses! So every single dollar helps bring us closer to our goal even faster!
Our adoption will not be finalized for 6-8 months and every month we have a $500 post adoption report due. This was many more than we had anticipated, and this matching grant will cover all of those reports, plus court costs for our adoption finalization and travel toward the end of the year!
We are hoping you will partner with us to finalize Theo’s adoption. Donations and grants were the only way we were able to bring Frannie and Finton home in 2015 and we cannot wait to see who gives from their heart this time! Thank you so much for helping our dream of adoption come true again!! ❤️
