The Martin’s Adopt – Again!

Caitlin Martin Fort Wayne, Indiana

Hello! We are Kyle, Caitlin, and Lydia Martin, and welcome to our story!

Throughout our lives, we’ve experienced many trials – all of which have brought us to our journey of adoption. A great passion and fire grew within us to grow our family in this way, and ultimately adopted our daughter Lydia Joy Hui-Hsin from Taiwan in 2020, at the height of the pandemic. We always knew that we’d continue to grow our family through adoption, and specifically adoption of older children with special needs, and therefore are awaiting a match for a sibling group of 2 from Taiwan: an 8-year-old girl, and a 3-year-old boy! We have been awarded $5,000 in matching grants from Leverage Photography and Lifesong for Orphans Adoption Funds!

Initially, we were interested in the little girl, and were about to submit our file for her when our agency contacted us to let us know that she had a little brother, and Taiwan wanted to adopt them together! We decided to continue forward knowing that there will be many more challenges adopting two at a time, the least of which is financial challenges. Adoption is costly in every way, but adopting a sibling group increases our financial need more than twice the original cost. We know our God has led us to this point, and will provide. Will you consider partnering with us in this way?

If we receive final approval of match for these children (we should know at the beginning of October), there are several very large amounts of money that are due. In fact, this is the most financially-costly time in the process. Here’s a breakdown of what we’ll owe at the time of our match:

1. $1,800 – 2nd program fee for our agency
2. $945 – USCIS (immigration) filing fee
3. $16,230 – Orphanage fee (this is more than double because it’s for 2 children)

We desire to be transparent when it comes to finances in this process. While we do have funds saved up from our first fundraiser and from our own savings, this amount of money due is, as you can see, pretty astronomical, and we still need support to meet our goals.

Our sincerest thanks to all of you who’ve supported us in the past and who continue to support us. We are incredibly grateful for you!
