We are so excited to announce that we have been awarded a $3000 matching grant from Kirklin Christian Church Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. We are so excited and honored that every donation will be matched up to the $3,000! Here’s our story:
Ross and I were missionaries in Uganda until God unexpectedly closed the door and sent us back to the states. We were in the middle of the process of fostering to adopt our daughter, and it has been a heart-wrenching experience having to leave Uganda without her (see the story on how we met her below). Our girl is now living halfway around the world away from us, and all of our hearts ache to be with each other again. Because we want to get our family back together as quickly as possible, we have to raise our adoption fees fast! As we start from scratch after selling all that we own, we are in a humble position, realizing we need our “village” and a miracle to make this happen. God has brought us this far, and we have so much faith to see Him carry out this work He has already started.
We want to invite you to be a part of our story! Not every family has been called to adopt, but we have all been called to love and care for the orphan in some way. By supporting our family in this adoption process, it is a beautiful way to be a part of bringing redemption to one orphan’s story. If you would like to join us on this journey, your donations will go towards covering the costs of our multiple flights to Uganda we must take during the process as well as adoption fees from our agency.
Thank you so much for all of your love, prayers, and support! You guys are all playing such a special part in “piecing” together Everly Gift’s story. We are eternally grateful!
(SEE OUR FULL STORY BELOW):
For us, adoption was always Plan A. Lindsey and I (Ross), have had a heart for adoption ever since we were young. In 2012, we met on a mission trip to Uganda. On this trip, we found more than just each other. The moment Lindsey locked eyes with a little girl named Gift, she had an instant and unexplainable love for her. Gift was a little over a year old and weighed only 11 lbs. As a 22-year-old, she couldn’t understand why she felt so strongly for such a tiny little person. She wasn’t thinking about marriage or having children, and yet she knew the Lord was telling her that this girl was her daughter. Little did she know that, separately, God was pressing on my (Ross) heart in the same way. In 2013 Lindsey spent 2 months in Uganda and the bond between them was still so strong. As a couple, we prayed over Gift constantly. Mostly for her well-being, but we also prayed that if it were His will, that we could one day make her family. Pictures of her hung throughout our home over our years of marriage, longing to be near her. Lindsey and I left it at the feet of the Lord so SO many times, and He has graciously given us an opportunity to pursue adopting her. During our time of missionary work in Uganda, we have decided that we are “all in.” Now she is 6-years-old, and we have more than joyously accepted the calling to adopt her. We have given her the name Everly Gift (a reminder to us that God is “ever” faithful, “ever” true, “ever” good, etc.). She could not be more of a joy to us, and we love the ways that God has made her fit so well into our family. This has not been an easy road by any means, but we both agree that the adoption journey is totally worth it.
