Adoption has been an integral part of both of our lives and we feel like it is something that God has given us a passion for. We have always had the desire to adopt older children who need a forever family. What we didn’t know was that it was going to happen so soon. We thought that adoption was another 5-10 years down the road for us, but God had other plans!
Megan traveled to Liberia in June of this year and spent two weeks serving in a Babies Home. Megan fell in love with all of the children, but two of them took a very special piece of her heart. Megan’s heart broke as soon as she heard the first words our daughter said to her “mommy, hold me”. Megan knew at that moment that this little girl and her big brother were meant to be a part of our family. She called Ian a few days later and told him all about her experience in Liberia so far. She told him about these two special children and how our little girl was heartbroken every time Megan had to leave her side. She told him how she felt like they were meant to be a part of our family and how she did not want to leave them. Little did she know that Ian had been talking with his dad about the possibility that Megan would meet a couple of kids and want to adopt them and that he was open to the idea.
After Megan arrived home, we prayed and discussed the possibility of adoption. The biggest fear holding us back was how we would finance the adoption. We both felt like God was showing us that we would never be ready to adopt if we waited until we were “ready” and that no child is ever ready to be an orphan. We knew that if the Lord wanted us to pursue their adoption He would pave the way and provide the resources we needed. We have been blessed by the Lord’s provision thus far through generous donors, grants and specifically this matching $4,000 grant through Lifesong for Orphans. We thank you for considering donating towards this matching grant and helping us bring our children home.
Thank you for the financial support, encouragement and prayers.
