Hello/NiHao (你好)!
We are Nick and Molly Strong, currently living in Plymouth, Indiana!
Our adoption story begins by introducing God, as the author of our story. He’s writing the story of our lives and this chapter is entitled, China Adoption. It’s no surprise God would weave adoption into our story as He has already adopted us into His family. He knows about adoption intimately because he has done it over and over again, all for love. Ephesians 1:5 says, “In love He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.” We also cannot help but think of the beautiful verse: “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Now, we say YES to adopting a child from China and welcoming them into our home as a son or daughter, all for love.
We can see that God was preparing us for this moment because even before we married, adoption was on each of our hearts. Molly’s childhood love was China. Anything Chinese, she was attracted to, so it was no surprise that she moved to China at 23 to work at an international school. Nick grew up as a missionary kid in Bolivia, South America. Nick’s Third Culture Kid background shaped his view of culture and led him, eventually, to China as well, to the same international school. We fell in love in the fishbowl, aka, our small expat/international community. Our community was a key example to us of love in action. Many of our friends have adopted over the years (many within China). A key verse in our adoption journey has been: “He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord” (Psalm 113:9). We DO praise the Lord through this process! We are eager to welcome our little one home from China.
Our great needs in this process are prayer and financial help. Please pray as we prepare our hearts and minds to welcome our child into our family. Please pray our hearts are sensitive to the Holy Spirit as we make decisions in this process. Not our will but His be done. And of course, we have financial needs. We have been blessed with a $3,000 matching grant funded by Maple City Chapel in Goshen, Indiana, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. Whatever is donated will be matched up to $3,000. We are so grateful for this gift! The financial goal set is an estimated amount we still need for our adoption. We are confident our Father will provide for all of our needs. That’s just who He is! Thank you so much for your support, encouragement, and love.
