The Simpsons are adopting from Hungary!

Jared Simpson Houston, Texas

We are the Simpson Family – Jared, Lindsey, Bailey, Parker, and Charlotte – and we are thrilled to announce that we are adopting from Hungary!  While our journey to adopt has had many surprises, including a change in country, God has been sovereign in our adoption from the beginning.  He allowed exactly what was needed, at the exact right time, to lead us to this point.

We have always wanted a larger family, but Lindsey’s pregnancies were very difficult due to acute hyperemesis gravidarum (HG).  With each pregnancy her symptoms worsen, making it harder on her and the baby. Our youngest was born in 2013, and after Lindsey spent eight months on home health care, we made the difficult decision that it would be her last pregnancy.

In 2020, our hearts were still longing for another child.  Our conversations shifted from “what ifs” to intentionally praying about adopting.  We spent months in prayer and in 2021 we felt confident that God was leading us to adoption.

As you may already know, we began our adoption process in 2021 in another country that has not reopened from COVID.  Shortly after starting the adoption process, it was put on both of our hearts to adopt a child with Down Syndrome.  In 2022, in the midst of making required updates to our dossier, we got a call for a child that our agency was advocating for from Hungary.  We were so excited and agreed that we would pray about this, but had no idea how we could manage the 45-day stay in Hungary.  Our plan all along had been for just my wife and I to travel and be apart from our other children for 2-weeks.  It was very intimidating as not many people, we felt including us, can just move to another country for 6-7 weeks to finalize an adoption.  It seemed impossible, but we prayed, knowing God can make the “impossible,” possible, if it is his will for us.  To our surprise, we quickly learned that my company would allow for the 7 weeks to be covered with pay under parental leave!!  This was huge blessing and one of the ways we knew God was opening doors.

Currently, we are soft matched with this beautiful child and excited to announce that our dossier has been sent to Hungary.  We are hoping to travel soon!  The total cost of this adoption will be over $40,000.  Up to this point, God has provided us with the donations, fundraisers, and the ability to self-finance this adoption.  As we are preparing for the final stages, we have secured an interest free loan from LifeSong in the amount of $8,000.  We have been encouraged to reach out for support funding this last stretch of the process.  This $12,000 will help cover the Hungarian Adoption Fees and travel costs.

We’re very excited about the opportunity to adopt internationally from Hungary and we hope that you will consider partnering with us in the final part of our adoption journey.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope (Romans 15:13).
