We are Jacob & Stephanie Schmanke! We have officially embarked on the adoption journey and we couldn’t be more excited! We are so blessed that Christ has placed this calling on our hearts and that we are able to adopt just as Christ has adopted us.
When we first met, adoption was something that we talked about from the very beginning, even on our first date. So we knew early on, adoption was going to be a part of our story. We were married in August of 2013 and had decided that we wanted to wait a couple of years to start building our family. Finally in January of 2016, we decided to trust that God had it all under control and so we started to try to conceive. What we didn’t know was that Christ was going to use that time to grow us spiritually and emotionally. To bring us closer together and even closer to Him. Months passed with no signs of becoming pregnant. Those months turned into a year. After the first year, we started to question if something was wrong. In April of 2017, we had some fertility testing done. We were very hopeful that there would be an answer to why we weren’t getting pregnant. After receiving the results from our tests, they were inconclusive with no real answers one way or the other. We were so frustrated and confused. We chose to continue to trust in Him that He had a plan and that we would get pregnant in His time.
Later in 2017, we felt God was really pushing us to move toward adoption sooner than expected. It was hard to “give up” the pursuit to have biological kids but we again trusted that He had a plan and chose to follow Him. In September of 2018, we announced that we had officially started the adoption process through domestic adoption. The years leading up to this decision have been full of emotion and there has been also a lot of growth, learning and abiding in Christ. We have learned to hold fast to Christ and we pray that as we continue in this process, that we will only continue to grow closer in our marriage, closer to Him and we are able to solely rely on Him alone.
We know that the adoption journey can be hard spiritually and financially. We covet your prayers as we continue through this process. We also are asking if you'd consider partnering with us financially. We were blessed to obtain funds through several fundraisers early on in our journey and have also been given the opportunity for a matching grant of $5,000 through Lifesong for Orphans. This means that anything that is donated to our fund, will be matched up to $5,000! We are truly grateful for God's provision thus far and are so excited to see him continue the work for His Kingdom!
Any donations made to our adoption will be used to bring Baby Schmanke home! At this time, we don't know anything about our future child and have not been matched with an expectant mother but we know God knows who this sweet child will be! Please continue praying for us, our future child and the child's mother.
