In April, 2015 my life changed when Jessika came into my life through the Foster Care system. I became a Foster Mom to a beautiful, loving, sassy smart girl from El Salvador. All of a sudden, life consisted of packing lunches, carpools, Disney Channel and popcorn. It didn't take her long before she started calling me Mom. My first Mothers Day was one of the most special days ever, and we talked about the possibility of adoption after only a few short months.
We got very close in a short period of time after experiencing some unexpected Emergency Room adventures, a road trip to see family in Michigan and of course our share of boy drama.
Foster care, however, is not easy, and we had our share of difficult days, disagreements and slamming bedroom doors.
After over 6 months in my home, for reasons too complicated to explain, Jess was placed back into the foster system. Experiencing the brokenness of the Foster Care System was hard and heart breaking for both of us and what it did to our family.
THANKFULLY the story doesn't end there.
After Jess aged out of the system, we were re-united and began being Mother and Daughter again. A bond that no system can break. "I will always be your Mom and you will always be my kid" I wrote her in a letter, and that is true today.
About 8 months ago Jess asked if I would adopt her and I said yes! It is time to make official what we already are to one another and she wants to become a Pomeroy!
SO many of you have been a part of our story, and I would love to invite you into this particular chapter of our story. There is an opportunity for your gift to be matched that will cover all of the adoption fees!
Any gift you donate will be matched ( up to $800)
Thanks again for being a part of our story! We welcome all of your prayers, but we also want to welcome you to be a part of our tribe, because we can't do this alone. I am sure Jess would love all of the cool aunts and uncles, grandmas and grandpas, brothers and sisters she can get ;)
Grateful for you!
Sara and Jess
