It’s a boy! and another boy!
We have both wished for a large family since we began dating years ago; it was always expected that adoption would be our path to building this dreamed about family so we began to research, knowing this would not be an inexpensive journey. After an unexpected pregnancy that took us by surprise ended in a devastating miscarriage, we once again began to pray for God’s timing for our family and the journey it would take. After more positive pregnancy test results ending in very early miscarriages we began to feel helpless. Our desire to have a family was very strong for both of us, so we chose to move forward with adoption in an effort to bring our family home.
Our journey to find our children led us to Taiwan; or rather Richard’s family in Taiwan led us to our adoption agency. We are blessed to have family that not only supported our search but assisted in it as well. After many months, classes, forms, fingerprints, background searches, and emails we have finally found our children.
We were provided with a file of an adorable set of brothers for us to review. The older brother just turned 5 and the younger brother just turned 4 yrs old. There are some developmental delays that we will need to help each of the boys work through but we are excited to help them and watch them grow. We knew the instant we reviewed their files that they were our children. Watching videos of them playing and hearing their voices was unbelievable. Our hearts recognized the sound of our children’s voices without ever having met them and long for the day that we will meet our children in person. We desire with all our hearts to have our children in our home and begin our lives together as a family. We were specifically looking to adopt siblings as we believe that they deserve the opportunity to grow, play, fight, and love each other. We recieved word from the agency just before Thanksgiving that the birthmother has approved our file, what an amazing Thanksgiving gift!
Over the course of our adoption we anticipate paying upwards of $50,000 in adoption and adoption related expenses. There are new guidelines (in Taiwan) and additional fees that original budget didn’t have, because of that we are raising funds to meet these additional items. Our goal is to raise $8,000.
We have an amazing opportunity through Lifesong for Orphans. They have partnered with us to see our children come home by gifting us with a $2,000 matching grant. Meaning if we can raise $2,000 dollars they will give us another $2,000 to help us meet our goal. If we surpass the initial $2,000 we will have that for our adoption as well.
We are asking you to consider making a donation to help us bring our children home.
Sincerely and with all our love,
Richard and Leslie
