Pohlmans Adopt Again

Adam Pohlman
Adam Pohlman Byron, Minnesota

We are thrilled to be adopting again. God has used adoption to shape us into more patient, humble, joyful people and we are excited to see what he will do in us this time and how he will reshape our family with another beautiful life.

Nine years ago God led us to this adoption journey through physical health limitations and a desire to back up a pro-life testimony through helping give life to children and mothers who had no options. Two years later we welcomed our son to the family through quite the surprise announcement to our family. God revealed to us so much about his faithfulness and how he loves us as his own adopted children.

Four years later, little did we know that just months before adopting our son, God had created a daughter for us in Uganda, though we wouldn’t know her until she was four years old. Three years ago we flew to Uganda to meet this little girl who was in desperate need for a family. Only a small child, she has experienced more suffering and trauma than most in our country, but with a new family, God changed her future. Adopting this little girl has taught us how to see the world through the eyes of those with so few advantages. God wants to pull people from every nation and every status into his beautiful blood-bought family.

Most recently God has allowed us to be a part of an incredible new church that sees so many of these things that God used adoption to reveal to us. They are excited to see God’s powerful hand on display in each other’s lives, especially to help one another display God’s love for us in Christ through adoption. So God has led us to adopt again in order to model this love once again as a leader in the church. We get the opportunity to display how much God loves to bring the disadvantaged into his riches. We get the wonderful privilege to see how God provides abundantly for his people when they step out in faith. We are hoping to influence many others to grow in a love for God by joining us on this journey of being shaped by God to deny our own privileges to give others wonderful privilege in Christ.

As part of our adoption process, we have been raising funds to help cover some of the financial burdens.  God has been so good to already provide for us in big ways!  He has given us just what we need as we need it.

Now we are in the final leg of this journey. We are in Virginia awaiting the birth of our newest son. We are so thrilled for what comes next. Please pray for him and his birth mom and for us as we try to serve and minister to them.

Upon return home, our final portion of our adoption placement fees will be due. These expenses cover caring for the birth family, filing legal paperwork, and our stay in VA. After we return home we need to set up multiple visits from social workers to make sure our son is transitioning to our home well.

The amount that remains for us to raise to cover all of these expenses is about $7,000. Would you help us get to our goal?  By partnering with Lifesong, each dollar will be matched up to $3500.00!  With your generous donations and Lifesong’s incredible kindness we will be able to reach our goal to finalize this journey and begin the process of molding this young child into a man after God’s own heart.

Thank you all for being a part of our growing family. Through your generosity God uses you to make what seems impossible come true. Every one of you who has helped us is a special member of the Pohlman family.

God has other plans

October 12, 2018
It is with extremely heavy hearts that we post this picture instead of a picture of a new son.  Things didn’t really work out as we had planned.  All the hope and excitement we came with has quickly vanished – as the birth father has decided to parent.  We have purchased tickets to return home, defeated and confused, sad.  We have already come to love, so much, a little boy that we’ve never met.  We had dreams for him.  The kids were excited to meet their baby brother.  We’re tired, feeling deceived and tired, unsure of where to go next.  We truly appreciate all of your prayers and support – trusting that God is planting a seed of gospel hope for somebody though all of this.

Inducing Delivery Today

October 10, 2018

The doctors have decided to induce labor today!  We will wait on more new, and hope to update you soon.  Please pray for a smooth and safe delivery for the birth mom and the both mom and baby would be healthy.  Also, pray that we could show Christ’s love in what can be an emotionally charged few days.

God would have us wait

October 8, 2018

In a strange turn of events, the doctor sees no need to induce birth mom until next week.  And so, we wait, in D.C., and pray that she goes into labor on her own.  It seems as though after baby boy makes his appearance and paperwork is signed, Adam will head back home to take care of our other kiddos and get back to work the best he can.  Molly will remain in the D.C. area until the ICPC is approved (10-14 days later).  Pray for our patience as we wait on His perfect timing.
