We are thrilled to be adopting again. God has used adoption to shape us into more patient, humble, joyful people and we are excited to see what he will do in us this time and how he will reshape our family with another beautiful life.
Nine years ago God led us to this adoption journey through physical health limitations and a desire to back up a pro-life testimony through helping give life to children and mothers who had no options. Two years later we welcomed our son to the family through quite the surprise announcement to our family. God revealed to us so much about his faithfulness and how he loves us as his own adopted children.
Four years later, little did we know that just months before adopting our son, God had created a daughter for us in Uganda, though we wouldn’t know her until she was four years old. Three years ago we flew to Uganda to meet this little girl who was in desperate need for a family. Only a small child, she has experienced more suffering and trauma than most in our country, but with a new family, God changed her future. Adopting this little girl has taught us how to see the world through the eyes of those with so few advantages. God wants to pull people from every nation and every status into his beautiful blood-bought family.
Most recently God has allowed us to be a part of an incredible new church that sees so many of these things that God used adoption to reveal to us. They are excited to see God’s powerful hand on display in each other’s lives, especially to help one another display God’s love for us in Christ through adoption. So God has led us to adopt again in order to model this love once again as a leader in the church. We get the opportunity to display how much God loves to bring the disadvantaged into his riches. We get the wonderful privilege to see how God provides abundantly for his people when they step out in faith. We are hoping to influence many others to grow in a love for God by joining us on this journey of being shaped by God to deny our own privileges to give others wonderful privilege in Christ.
As part of our adoption process, we have been raising funds to help cover some of the financial burdens. God has been so good to already provide for us in big ways! He has given us just what we need as we need it.
Last October we had the unfortunate experience of having our match with a baby boy fall through. It was heartbraking to lose so much of what we envisioned for our family. Additionally, we lost about $5,000 in fees and travel expenses from the trip. It has been a difficult few months of grieving and recovering what was lost.
Just a week ago we were again matched with a young woman in Georgia who is due to give birth to a baby girl in mid-March. Unfortunately her water broke back in December and she has been on bed rest in the hospital trying to keep the baby healthy and growing inside. If she can hold on the doctors will deliver the baby after the first week in February. Then Molly will stay near the hospital for a few weeks while this premature little darling gets intnsive care in the NICU.
We have just a couple of weeks remaining to raise the last bit of funding needed to travel to and stay in GA. The amount that remains for us to raise to cover all of these expenses is about $7,000. Would you help us get to our goal? By partnering with Lifesong, each dollar will be matched up to $3500.00! With your generous donations and Lifesong’s incredible kindness we will be able to reach our goal to finalize this journey and begin the process of molding this young child into a man after God’s own heart.
Thank you all for being a part of our growing family. Through your generosity God uses you to make what seems impossible come true. Every one of you who has helped us is a special member of the Pohlman family.
