Phillips Family Adoption

Jared Phillips
Jared Phillips Arlington, Texas

We have known God had written adoption into our story, we just weren’t sure of when.  We met and got married in a tiny town in Iowa and lived there until the Lord called us to Texas to work as houseparents at a children’s home. Now, Jared is the Community Director for Lionheart Children’s Academy at Lake Church in Arlington and Jess is a stay at home/homeschool mom to our 2 boys, Liam (8) and Micah (6). We knew that adoption would be a part of our story before we were married, but had never felt the Lord had opened the door until now. We have had different seasons where He has confirmed this desire of ours, through a few weeks in Haiti, working as houseparents at a children’s home in Round Rock, and now as Jared ministers to kids at Lionheart. Though the last 3 years have been challenging and at times heartbreaking, through the death of Jess’ mom and our 2 daughters, the Lord has proved faithful over and over again. Just as we have with every other thing Jesus has called us to, we want to keep taking steps forward in obedience, even though it is a little scary at times.

We have been fortunate to have been awarded $7,000 in matching grants from Legacy685 Adoption Fund + Lifesong for Orphans. We can’t wait until we get to meet the child Jesus has planned for our family.   Would you join us in the journey?1

Beginning 2024

January 11, 2024

Hey everyone!  Happy New Year!

We just completed our home study renewal.  We, as I’m sure every adoptive family does, were hoping we wouldn’t have to do this, and that we would celebrate Christmas with a new little one.  That was not our reality, and we are seeking to entrust our hopes to Jesus. We are praying for our little one to join our family soon, but right now, we are still waiting.  This journey of waiting on the Lord’s timing is extremely sanctifying and challenging but He continues to remind us of His presence.

Jess is studying the book of John in BSF and over and over again Jesus avoided arrest, even death at times because His time had not yet come.  That along with reading in Genesis the start of this year and how Abraham and Sarah waited and waited and waited for the Lord to provide them a son has spoken so clearly that God’s timing is so perfect.

Perhaps the most challenging part of the wait, would be walking our boys through such an open ended timeframe.  We have planned and prayed for this adoption, they have been an integral part of all that we have done in preparation and they LONG for a little sibling.  They have both expressed how challenging it is to wait and how they sometimes feel like it will never happen.  Trusting Jesus with their hearts has been an incredible area of growth for us as their parents as well.

As we continue to pray through info summaries from birth moms and wait on a ‘yes’, we covet your prayers for us as well.  We are so grateful for our community of believers that has held us up and surrounded us so beautifully as we journey through!

Blessings,
Team Phillips

So grateful!!

December 5, 2022

We continue to be blown away by the generosity of God’s people!
We have been still selling eggs and working down our ‘wait list’ and thankful that we are getting closer to the bottom!!  The boys are very proud of their chickens and so excited to be able to be helpful.

This past weekend was full of Christmas spirit!   Saturday we took part in a fundraiser we were nominated for, a Christmas pajama photo shoot.   It was sweet to be there and see all the kiddos in their jammies but also to be able to chat with the other couple benefiting from the fundraiser.    Sunday evening some sweet friends thay host an evening with Santa asked us if they could put our information out there for people to donate if they wanted.  We are so thankful for them and for all the wonderful people that have chosen to be a part of our child’s story!

We continue to take steps forward in the process and will do our final homestudy interview Friday (9th).  We will attend a conference at the end of January and soon after, be ready to be matched!   It has been a journey but Jesus has continued to affirm that we are on the right track.

Successful Garage Sale

October 22, 2022

We wrapped up a weekend of selling items donated by our church family and friends. It was a huge success and we are so grateful for all who came and supported us as well as donated items. We are getting closer and closer to our goal and are exctied to continue the process of getting ready for our adoption.

We are getting ready to schedule our Home Study #3 which will be the final piece before our home study will begin to be written and completed. This will open up ways for us to apply for more grants as well. Thank you for all of your support and prayers.
