Alli and I celebrated our wedding together with friends and family in August of 2014 (time flies!) Getting married, we always knew that adoption, fostering, or some level of involvement with vulnerable children would be part of our future as a couple – we didn’t know exactly what this meant, but we had both been independently drawn to the conversation our entire adult lives.
A couple years into our marriage, we began to intentionally try to conceive and expand our family. After a couple years of trying unsuccessfully, we were told by our doctor that there were no significant factors that would prevent us from getting pregnant. However, after another year or so of trying, we still had no pregnancies.
About this time, our church participated in a national day of recognition for vulnerable children called Orphan Sunday (also known as Stand Sunday). During this experience, we felt a strong word from God that we had been treating adoption or fostering as a backup plan, a bonus, or an act of charity instead of as a calling from Him. We knew that He was telling us this was something we were called to, regardless of other circumstances.
After much prayer and affirmation, we are so excited to be pursuing domestic infant adoption! We honestly have no idea what the future holds for us in this journey, but we know we are called to it and we know we will need lots of help along the way. Thank you for joining us in this story as we take the next steps of faith that God has for us!
We'd love for you to check out the short video attached for some more info related to this fundraiser - we have been awarded a $3000 matching grant from Hephzibah 62:4 Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans. If you are led to give, this is a fun way to double the impact! As always, feel free to reach out to us - we'd love to connect with you!
