Our adoption story is less about us and much more about our daughter. We play the very tiniest part in the grand story that God is writing for her life, but oh what joy we have to be a part of it!
We are the Ripleys: Erik, Chelsea, Ezra, Kilian, and soon Priya!
Adoption has long since been on our heart. Even before we were married we both felt lead that adding to our future family would include adoption. So why India? Through a series of asking questions and seeing where adoptions were open to American citizens, India was on the top of that list. Chelsea has long had a heart for India. She has specifically prayed for the country and has written countless times, even before we were married, about her heart to travel there. She has even shared her recollection on prayers specifically for the area that our daughter just so happens to be in. That’s not happen stance- we firmly believe that’s the Lord’s providence!
Our boys have been a part of the process since day 1. We have shared with them that we would like to bring a brother or sister home and how they would be joining our family a little differently. Immediately they began to pray for “baby India,” constantly asking the Lord to bring them home soon. It was mid-October of 2020 when we received the call with a match. It didn’t take long for us to be convinced that the child was ours.
We are so very excited to bring Priya home with us forever. Her brothers are excited to have a sister and we are all growing anxious to finally hold her in our arms. Our hearts grow daily in our love for her and it grows harder by the minute knowing that we are separated by lands and ocean.
We are confident in our God. Whether selfishly or not, we are praying for God to show up in a miracle. We are desperate to bring her home sooner than what is being projected. That the court and judge will have such favor on our case and that this process is expedited. Nonetheless, the Lord’s will be done- His timing is perfect.
Adoption requires all a family has to give; financially and emotionally. Being physically separated from someone you deeply care for and love is difficult beyond comparison. The process to make things safe and legal is taxing financially as many institutions play a part to make this all possible.
And so, it takes a village. We are asking for deep, consistent prayers on our behalf. We are imploring for families to intercede along side us for the seemingly impossible task of making this process move quickly and smoothly. #PrayersForPriya and her safety and wellbeing. We are begging the Lord for his strength when the waiting is hard. Lastly, we are asking for generous hearts. It’s no secret that adoption is expensive and we could not have gotten to this point without the love and support of others. We are asking you to consider giving as we continue on our #PathToPriya.
