Overton Adoption

Robert & Kameilia Overton Aubrey, Texas

Thank you for choosing to come along side us and be a part of the adventure God has called us to.  Most of you know that our family is growing through domestic infant adoption. After Robert and I married, adoption was something I thought about from time to time but never really mentioned it. In early 2016, Robert asked me if I would ever consider adoption. I told Robert I would think about it. I realized that God was dropping it on my heart. Later that month we suffered a miscarriage that led to an emergency hysterectomy to save my life.

In the months that followed, I thought more and more about adoption. We would discuss it, but we didn’t want to pursue it based on our loss and desire for another child. Robert and I also didn’t want to pursue it as a means to replace what we lost. We wanted it to be God’s will for our life.

Since 2016, we have taken the time to heal both physically and emotionally. Through the years we have prayed earnestly about whether or not to pursue adoption. We didn’t feel released to pursue adoption until January this year. This January we took the first of the year to spend time fasting and praying. We felt that God told us now was the time to adopt and gave us specific scriptures to stand on. We have been working with a local adoption agency that God lead us to. We have all our paperwork and homestudy completed and are waiting to be matched with a birth family.

This journey is so exciting! We have felt so much peace from God and strength through all the paperwork and steps. As we have been looking at the financial side, we are walking in faith that God will provide for us as we have stepped out in obedience. We have been awarded a matching grant of $3,000 by one of Lifesong's Outside the Walls partners, Karis Adoption Fund.  This is such an incredible blessing! This means for every dollar we raise they will match it using this generous donation up to $3,000. If you feel led to do so, you can make a tax-deductible donation to help us meet this matching grant. No matter what, we want you to be a part of the journey and we would love for you to remember us often and pray for our family.
