Adoption has always been something we knew we would pursue as a family. JD is adopted and adoption has always been a passion for Bethany as well. We have two biological kids and felt that after Josiah was born it was time for us to pursue adoption for our family. We researched and prayed over domestic versus international adoption, looked into so many different options. We landed on international adoption. We have both had such a heart for the nations that we felt led to begin this adoption journey overseas. Through some friends, we found Lifeline Children’s Services and knew without a doubt this was the agency we needed to partner with. We landed on Haiti as the country we would pursue adoption. We knew it would be a several year process, but we were okay with the wait. As time went on, our dossier had been in country almost a year, and we kept getting more and more updates from our agency about how little there was in Haiti and the timeframe was looking longer and longer. We took this as an opportunity to really stop and pray about where the Lord wanted us. As we prayed through this process, an opportunity came for us to host a child from China. We knew this what the Lord was leading us to. We hosted a beautiful, spunky 5 year old little girl from China. Since then, we have changed to the China program and working on updating our paperwork to adopt from China. Our desire is to pursue adoption on the child that we hosted in our home. We are working hard on this process to hopefully bring her home into our family. We are passionate about adoption. It is overall a beautiful picture of what the Lord has done for us. These kids are born into a life they didn’t choose. Even though adoption is a beautiful thing, there is always pain and trauma associated with loss with these kids. We are humbled that we get to walk alongside this child through this pain of loss and hardship and lead them to the ultimate Healer who is the only one that can truly heal their heart.
