Our Adoption Journey

Cortney Holland Murray, Kentucky

Cortney and Justin first met in high school in our small hometown in Kentucky. But it was several years later before our lives crossed paths again that we ran into one another at church. We spent the next two years dating and getting to know one another. During those years, we talked about our hopes and dreams. And that included having a family of our own. We took the first step in making our dreams come true when we got engaged on Valentine’s Day!

That next May, we said I do in front of all our family and friends in a wonderful wedding at the exact same place where Cortney’s parents were also married. It was the perfect way to start our lives together.

In January 2014, our greatest blessing arrived, and we became the parents to our sweet baby Logan. We knew then, that no matter what God’s plan for us was over the next few years, that we wanted to add more children to our family.

In May 2016, we got some terrible news. Cortney had been diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. After a long hard journey through six surgeries and four rounds of chemo treatments she had won the fight and was cancer free. All her doctors said that having any additional children would not be in her best interest in fear of the cancer returning.

Since we couldn’t have any more children naturally we decided to adopt for our second child. We are very blessed and honored that we have been awarded a $3,500 matching grant from Hope That Binds Adoption Fund, administered by Lifesong for Orphans.

We’re super excited to begin this adoption process to add another child to our family. With God on our side, all things work to his glory. We will love and cherish our adopted child just as we do Logan. We will teach them right from wrong, pray for them, nurture them, and raise them in a good Christian home.

It is an honor and blessing to have this opportunity, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
