Our Adoption Journey

Tim & Meaghan Hartman Conroe, Texas

Many of you have been journeying along with us as we have been building our family. It became apparent pretty early on in our marriage that we were not able to conceive naturally, and it took us a long time to come to grips with that reality.  Through lots of prayer and wise counsel we pursued fertility treatments, and in 2018 we were blessed with Lily.  She is the most beautiful little girl with a heart for Jesus and a kindness that humbles us.

Knowing that we wanted more children, we began to pray for what was next. After a failed fertility treatment in December of 2021, we began to pray through the possibility of adoption. Both of us have a heart for it, and we thought that it could be the right time, but God said wait a little while longer.  The Lord moved us to Texas for a new job opportunity for Tim, and He led us to a church with an amazing adoption/foster support network.  They have donors and families within the church who help, encourage and train others in this area. It was like God was saying, "Ok, now". We believe it is His leading that we are now pursuing domestic infant adoption.

Having no idea where to start the process, we searched online and found several faith based agencies in our area. The Lord placed people in our lives (and even in our own small group) to help us come to the decision of New Life Adoptions. The mission of New Life Adoptions is "to give hope and offer choice as we empower pregnant women to make the best life-affirming decisions for themselves and their babies." You can find more about New Life at www.newlifeadopt.com.

Our home study was completed and approved in September, and now we are waiting on a birthmother to choose us to be the adoptive parents of her baby.  To say we are excited is an understatement.  We are doing our best to temper our excitement with realistic expectations of what it will looklike to welcome another child into our home.  Lily is also eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new baby brother or sister, but it has been difficult with many unanswered questions about when they will arrive.  At this point in time,we don't know when that will be, so in the meantime we are in full preparation mode.

As you can imagine this is a long and expensive process.  From overall care and counseling for the birthparents, to lawyers fees and background checks, to the home study, the costs add up very quickly.  We are prayerfully asking for donations to raising $10,000 of the overall $30,000 in adoption expenses.  In what is already an answer to God's provision, WoodsEdge Community Church, our church here in Houston, has set up a matching grant for us through Lifesong, an organization that is receipting donations for us.  That means that every dollar donated to LifeSong for adoption expenses will be doubled up to $8000!

Throughout this entire process, the Lord has given us so much peace, even with the financial aspect.  The picture of adoption in Scripture is so clear, God has adopted us as His sons and daughters, giving us complete rights as heirs (Galatians 4:4-7) We have a desire to be a small part of that in this broken world.

“Praying for y'all as you enter into this new season. Encouraged by y'alls heart and desire to say YES to adoption. "To redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God."
