Early into our marriage, God placed the plight of orphans on our hearts, and we increasingly felt called to adopt a sibling group. Originally, we felt like we should begin growing our family from within. As Ben finished up seminary, we began to look towards growing our family. However, we found ourselves faced with the painful and frustrating experience of infertility. Through that experience, we believe that God was leading us to begin our adoption journey.
After identifying our preferred agency, God led us to adopt from the Romani population in Hungary. Not only is Hungary often overlooked when people choose where to adopt from, but it has active sibling programs that we felt aligned with our adoptive calling. Furthermore, the Roma people have been historically marginalized in Hungary, and we began to feel a particular desire provide a family and a home for children from this population.
Through the Lord's providence, we have been matched with a sibling group of three kids, and we are excited and nervous about bringing them home and becoming their parents. We don't have a firm travel date yet, but will be in Hungary for 7 weeks to finalize the adoption and bond with our future children.
Lifesong and its donors have graciously stepped in to assist us with our final support raising with a matching grant of $5,000. That means if we raise $5,000, they will match it. And this will almost completely cover our travel expenses. If you feel led, we would greatly appreciate any support you can provide.
