Engaging Gods heart for the orphan…*Matching Grant*

Katie Nelson Mobile, Alabama

Our hearts have been stirred by the number of children without a home and the number of lives lost through abortion. These are the voiceless and the defenseless ones. These are whom the Lord has called his people to see and to care for. Through all the ups and downs of the past three years in pursuing adoption, we have been reminded of God’s persistent love for us. He pursued our hearts relentlessly even though it brought him great grief, which gives us strength to persevere on this difficult and wearisome path toward adoption.

As the Lord pricked our hearts with the great need for orphan care, he solidified that calling by continuing to increase our desire for more children.  The Lord graciously gave us biological twins after 6 years of infertility and undergoing fertility treatments. While the twins are a great gift, he has continued to lead us away from pursuing more biological children and given us a vision for living out the gospel through adoption. The beautiful thing is now it is not only Ben and I, but also our kids that feel called to adopt and that eagerly await the special child the Lord will bring to us. Though this journey has not been quick or easy, we trust that God is writing an incredible story of beauty in the midst of brokenness.

One way he loves us is through his people. Our community has been a source of support, prayer, and encouragement throughout this process, for which we are so thankful. God has created our lives to be woven together and our interdependence upon him and upon each other is a gift in itself. We want to invite you to prayerfully consider engaging in this calling of caring for the fatherless by helping us to achieve our financial goal and bring a child into our forever family this year!

*We are carrying our puzzle fundraiser over to this site and have a friend working on our puzzle/piece of art, which will have the name of each individual donor inscribed into it. This will serve as a stone of remembrance, a visual reminder of all the individuals that are now apart of this precious child’s story forever.
