Welcome to our adoption journey! Here is a little info about us Neely’s. Our family has known we were called to adopt since before we even married! We are blessed to have many people on both sides of our family who are adopted, including Crystal herself (she and her sister are adopted by their father) and Crystal’s brother, who was a domestic infant adoption over 30 years ago. We also have many friends who have added to their own families via domestic and international adoption so we are surrounded by so many whose stories include adoption. We have never doubted Gods call on our lives to expand our family via adoption.
We were actually foster parents several years ago and had a foster son who joined our family for about a year. Our hope was to adopt him, but God had different plans at the time. Gerad and Crystal have also both done a fair amount of travel, both domestically and internationally, and have worked firsthand with foster systems and orphanages both in the United States and in developing countries. This has only affirmed the call that God has on our lives to be a part of the solution, to adopt a precious child, just as Christ has adopted all of us into His family.
We are incredibly blessed with her children. Our daughter, Kaelyn, is 13, she is in eighth grade, it’s an honor student, and wants to be a civil rights attorney. She has an amazing capacity to feel things strongly and empathize and reach out to those around her. Our son, Keagan, is 12, is in the seventh grade, is also an honors student and aspires to be a pediatric oncologist. He has one of the biggest hearts of anyone we have ever met, is wise beyond his years, is funny and kind, and has a desire to serve others always.
All four of us feel very strongly that God has called our family to adoption and that He has gone before us to pave the road and prepare us for what is to come. We are all very excited to be on this journey and feel very confident that He has prepared a child just for our family and our family for this child. We are in the process of adopting an older child from Colombia, a daughter who will be between the ages of 8 and 12. We have not yet been matched but trust that God knows who she is. We are open to a wide variety of special needs and feel confident that with Crystal’s background of being a nurse for 17 years and Gerad’s history as a Paramedic for 12 years that our family is specially equipped to handle a variety of needs.
Gerad is the Lead Pastor of our church, Dallas Alliance Church, and Crystal works part time as a nurse at our local hospital. While we are financially stable the estimated cost of our adoption is $40,000, And our income, while more than sufficient to raise our children (including our soon to be adopt a child), it’s not the type of income that has $40,000 left over. But, we feel very strongly that the Lord will provide financially for our adoption and have seen evidence of this over and over again already.
We have been incredibly blessed with a matching grant through “Hear the Cry” and “Lifesong for Orphans”! Through their incredible generosity we have been gifted a $4000 matching grant! That means for every dollar donated they will match that dollar up to $4000. Plus, every donation is tax deductible and 100% of the donations go directly to our family. God bends his ear to listen to us and we are so grateful to be surrounded by so many people who will cry out on our behalf.
We are so very blessed by each of you and “thank you” isn’t sufficient to express our gratitude for all of your support. We love each and every one of you and can’t wait to introduce you to our new daughter!
