Why are we adopting from India?
Thank you for checking out our adoption story. Our adoption journey began nearly 7 years ago. We did not have adoption on our radar at that point since we were still in the exhausted and sleep-deprived state after our first child. We were on a date and went to see Disney’s Million Dollar Arm, based on the story of the first MLB athletes from India. At one point there is a scene in which they are explaining baseball to a crowd of Indian children. I (Christy) felt very clearly the Lord telling me, “Your son is in India”. As the film concluded I felt very strongly that this was in fact from the Lord and shared with Bryan on the way home.
When Christy shared her experience with me (Bryan) it floored me. I had been praying the previous week and heard from the Lord the exact phrase Christy had, “Your son is in India”. For us this was landmark moment. We knew we had each heard from the Lord and to hear the exact same phrase totally independent of one another was all the confirmation we needed. We did not feel like it was time to begin the process but continued to hold these words from the Lord closely and internalize it as part of our family’s future.
How God has confirmed our story
In December of 2020 we determined that we could begin taking serious next steps toward adoption, so we took time to get away just the two of us over New Years and pray seeking God’s direction. After a time of prayer, we separately heard yet again that our son was in fact in India and that this was the time to begin the process. God gave us assurance that He would make a way, provide a path, and provide for our needs.
We are thrilled to say we have now completed the homestudy portion of our adoption and are awaiting our initial approval from India to begin matching phase. At each step of the process, we have seen God provide for us in incredible ways. From choosing our agency, to competing all the needed paperwork and documentation, things have fallen into place in ways that have shown us our steps are truly being guided by the Lord.
To fund our adoption, we have an aggressive savings plan in place but an additional 35,000 for a pastoral family is a challenge (but not for God). Each time we have needed to submit a payment, God has provided. As part of God’s financial provision for our adoption, we are so excited to say that we have been awarded a $3,000 matching grant through Lifesong and the Poorman Adoption Foundation. This means that the Poorman Foundation will match dollar for dollar all donations to our adoption up to $3,000. This is a huge blessing and will move us closer to having all the funds in place to get our son home and allow us to continue to save and prepare financially for all that will come after he arrives home as well.
How you can join us in our journey
1. PRAYER: We have been asked by so many in our lives, how they can support us in our adoption journey. Our first and greatest need is for prayer. Prayer for God’s timing in all things, for patience as we begin the waiting phase, and prayers for our son that he would be protected and prepared for the enormous transition he will experience upon being adopted. Prayers for our two biological children as they prepare for their brother to come home and the adjustment process for them as well. Prayers that we would be prepared to parent our son and meet his specific needs.
2. FINANCIAL: Our other need would honestly be financial. We 100% understood the expense of adoption when we entered into this process and are prepared to make it happen however necessary. We also recognize that as the people of God we are all called to care for the widows and orphans. For our family, God has called us to do that by taking an orphan into our family to love and care for him, guide him though his journey of healing, and equip him for the plan and purpose God has for him. Others may feel called to financially support those who adopt or support ministries that assist in orphan care.
If you would like to come alongside our family in our adoption journey by contributing to the cost of the adoption, go to our giving webpage at Donate Now button above. 100% of your donation will directly support our adoption and all donations are tax deductible.
We are grateful for your support in helping us bring home our son. We cannot wait for him to meet the people who have poured into us and who have covered in him in prayer and love even before he was in our care.
Blessings,
Bryan & Christy Moore
