Since beginning this journey many have asked us, “Why do you want to adopt?” Our usual response is why not? This is then followed up by stutters and something along the lines of, “You already have so many kids.” We do, and we want more! We have always had a heart for children, clearly, and after having five of our own, two miscarriages and a difficult pregnancy, God has led us down the path of adoption. It is a little spoken about concept in the church, but God tells us that it is all but necessary in His teachings. Let me just tell you how fast this journey started and where we are at. I’ve known since I was a little girl, I would adopt a child with Down Syndrome. One of my childhood friends has it and he has forever left a special place in my heart. It took Christian 10.5 years into our marriage to be called to adopt through a sermon he heard at a church. 11.5 years for him to finally be in agreement to adopt and step out on faith to see where God leads us. On May 1st, 2020-we submitted our interest form with an agency to see what the process entailed. On May 2nd, I was telling Christian I wish I knew 100% that this was a true calling from God because we are in the process of house hunting in new locations and furthering Christians career. I was on a blog that night reading this adoption story and she was talking about the financial aspects of it for God to hear her prayer and the verse Nehemiah 1:6 was included in her post which leads to my next sentence. The next day, our Sunday School class studied Nehemiah 1:6 and about WHAT ARE YOU BEING CALLED TO DO? Ummm…Hello God! I see you now! I cried after that class because I have prayed for so long for God’s timing and His timing with Christian. I truly knew that morning His timing has never been so perfect. Fast forward to May 11th, We never thought in a million years that our ENTIRE paperwork process would be completed in 10 days. TEN DAYS!! During the covid-19 slowdown of life—TEN DAYS!! So here we are still trying to wrap our minds around this answered prayer that has happened so quickly. We are hoping to adopt a child with Down Syndrome and that’s pretty much all we know! Special needs has always been something we are partial too and have been called to adopt a child who gets to bless us with it. We are on the active list and praying fervently for a Mother who is selflessly making a hard decision to better a situation she may be in. Pray for her emotions, decisions, comfort, peace, and for her to know she isn’t alone during this process. Pray for her because she decided to bless her child with a family rather than chose the abortion route. If she’s married, pray for her husband. If she has other children at home, pray for understanding. Since this happened so fast, we literally have stepped out on faith. Literally. The financial side hasn’t even been attended to or how in the world the financial aid will come into play, but pray for that! If you feel led to help us, we would greatly appreciate it. We also have been matched for a $3,500 grant when we hit that goal which is a HUGE blessing! As our former Pastor use to say, “A need known is an opportunity given.” We are called as God’s children to take care of the widows and orphans and this is us answering Gods call. Above all else, THANK YOU for joining our journey to pray for us! **This fundraiser will go towards all of the financials for the adoption and if there is any left over, we will use it for travel and stay! ** UPDATE When we began this journey, we decided that we wanted to stay domestic. It seemed the most logical logistically with 5 kids, to be able to go to another state around us to pick up our sweet girl. International adoptions obviously poses a different kind of challenge being across the pond so to speak. The cost of an international adoption is also about double what a domestic adoption is, so it was never really on the radar. Well, we’re we terribly wrong! God has other plans that fit his agenda, NOT OURS! We were presented and COMMITTED to a sweet baby girl who has Down Syndrome in Eastern Europe who has touched our hearts. She is currently in an orphanage awaiting for US! And now we need help bringing her home! To those who have donated already, you are the reason she is dedicated to our family! We could not thank you enough for your support. We are looking at a total adoption cost of around $34,000!!! When looking at those numbers is seems fleeting, discouraging, and down right untouchable. But we honestly didn’t expect to be where we are today in this process, so fast and after everything! God is bigger than $34,000, He’s bigger than 3.5 million, and with His will, your help, and prayers, we could have this sweet girl here in absolutely no time at all. We ask that you pray for us, pray for her, and all the parties involved in this incredible adoption. If you choose to donate know that you are a part of Gods bigger plan, a plan we are following Him through. Again, we thank everyone for their support, and we cannot wait to bring OUR daughter home to be with our family.
