Mayes Family in Accra

Dear Family and Friends,

We need your help!

Our journey for the last 4 years has been filled with God's provision and we are so thankful for Him and for each of you! He has always showed up either spiritually, financially and physically through the numerous blessings showered on us from others. Those blessings helped fund this incredible journey so far. Thank goodness that we are now towards the end of the journey.

We have been matched and our little guy is ready to be with his family. We headed that way 6 weeks ago to begin the process of fostering and adoption. However, things haven't gone according to plan.

The cost of living has been astronomically more than anticipated (we were originally told renting a place would be around $1,500 that changed to nearly $2500 when we arrived) and the original plan of living in country for 6 weeks also changed. In a best case scenario, we are looking at an additional 4 months of living in Ghana. Included with the change and costs were two trips to the North region to bring our son to Accra.

Through the blessings of others and our personal savings, we had enough to fund the adoption process and the travel to Ghana for 2 months but now with the additional 4 months of living and travel, our finances are running thin. Our family is now living in two different places, in two different homes, with all of the financial needs of two households. Though our workplace has blessed us with time off, that is also coming near to an end, so some of the time in Ghana will be without a full income.

Jen and I are also working on traveling back and forth more than we intended. With children in two different places, both of us are trying to be present for the older kids in the US and our little guy in Ghana. Each trip is around $1,000 with all of the Covid testing needing as well.

With all that being said, we need your help. We believe that God will provide and we trust in the overwhelming generosity of our friends and family. We thank you so much for everyone that has given so far. We thank you for the prayers and support of our family, friends, and church family. We cannot do this without you and we won't be able to finish this race without your financial support. Please if God leads you, help us finish this last leg of the journey.

Please note that, if any additional funds are raised more than what is needed for living in Ghana, we will be making a donation to our little guys orphanage to build a much needed fence around their orphanage. At this point, there is nothing that keeps the traffic or dangerous individuals from walking through their campus.

Eternally grateful to you all,

Mayes Family
